Non-conference schedule out

Angel food cake, but I do like facing off against Ohio State again. Always good to play ND too.

With Indiana thats 3 teams ranked in the top 10 of the ESPN preseason ranking. FSU is ranked #15 so that's 4 teams in the top 15 during the nonconference schedule.

Then you we play the #1 team, #8 (twice), #11. During the season. So that's 7 top 15 games so far. I also believe Ms St and Texas A&M will be good RPI wins and MSU can be ranked i believe.

Wow, we already knew she was scared off by UConn, but Stanford too?

I really don't think there is much debate -- this is the easiest LV non-conference schedule in the NCAA era...

Stanford chose not to renew. They’re cutting down on non-conference travel. UConn insisted on playing in January and the SEC could not accommodate their available dates. Neither decision was made by UT there.

Using the ESPN off-season poll, UT is playing the #6 and #10 teams at home, travel to #15 and face #7 at a neutral site. I don’t think four top-15 teams in nonconference is a cupcake schedule.

We are playing 8 ranked teams and w0 of 28 made post season play. What on earth do you want? Wbb is no longer just stanford and uconn these days. These are very good teams we are playing that are ranked.

I wasn't saying I didn't like the schedule. It's just that Stanford has always been my second-favorite program and I look forward to that game every year. So, yeah, I'm gonna be a little sad about that.

Lady Vols Reveal 2023-24 Non-Conference Slate - University of Tennessee Athletics

After seeing LSU almost literally play no even vaguely decent team until they absolutely had to last year, and still with some luck and an unwarranted seed end up winning the NC, I wondered if we might really lighten up on our schedule this year, especially early, but we are not.

Here’s hoping we stay healthy, and are ready to play well early in our season.

GO LADY VOLS!!!

Thanks for putting your typical athletic department PR spin on it.

And you're citing a poll that was created immediately after last season ended, before the transfer wave (including Jewel Spear) really hit and projected rosters still in flux so it's pretty meaningless. I don't think anyone would argue Indiana, Ohio State, and Notre Dame are... fine. FSU was a fringe top 25 team last year with Latson, without her they were a total disaster. I'm not sure they're quite as good as you're trying to make them out to be.

Again, I would challenge anyone to come up with a season Tennessee played a less challenging non-conference schedule than this one...

Maybe the 2019-20 which was Kellie 1st year she did not make schedule it was already made by Holly, they played Stanford, Texas and nd but nd was not good and should not have been ranked and that ended up being muffet Mcgraw last year, this was Jordan and tk freshman year and we played no one else

Here's your typical Bull💩 take on everything.

Listen ya Vandy loving fan. Just relay the message to Wes Moore how we loved that he scheduled the "other" SEC team from TN knowing TK needed a homecoming game in the state of NC. Why he is so scared to play us I don't know!

Also, yes it's preseason poll but if you are going to dispute or discredit the poll rankings then maybe you should just be quiet and allow us to play the teams we are scheduled to play especially since 20 out of the 28 games are against teams that had post season experience in either the NCAA or WNIT tourney... Can't cherry pick when you want. But wait ... that's what you do and how you create your relevance on the board.

Very well said and all factual information!

Better learn to love it 🤣

I am disappointed that it seems Tara cancelled the series and that Uconn would not budge on the january date. kellie said the series would most likely resume in the future but with adding more SEC teams I personally think it needs to be in the front part of the schedule like any other non conference game usually is or it doesn't need to be played.

I am over Texas cancelling the series because they come to the SEC after this upcoming one. It was sour grapes on Vics end but now he can't avoid it.
