Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

remember Belmont they will play for their conference championship. After playing and losing six games against some major teams they have a 19 game winning streak. really enjoyed their commitment last year against the LVs they were almost too good.

Belmont has also been playing without Tuti Jones since December, who was one of the nation's leaders in steals per game last season (2.8), and played very well against us in the tournament last year with 17 points, 6 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals, going 2-4 from 3.

I've been impressed with what they've been able to string together the last 6 weeks or so (it's a 16-game win streak); the MVC is a tough, fun conference. They came so close in some of their big non-conference games, losing to Louisville, MTSU, Villanova, Iowa, Georgia Tech (x2), and Georgia by an average of 8 points. They do have wins over Chattanooga and St. Louis, both tournament teams.

If one of our University signature endeavors were acres of rotting corpses, out on the Farm, we‘d be a much more august group for sure. Alas.
Ah, referring to the famous Dr. Bass. Chosen university/college educator of the year and personally responsible for helping put numerous, sick murderers away. Let me know when Conn has a professor to match. Or we could discuss the number of astronauts our engineering department has produced. I could go on but then you would have to discuss Conn’s academic prowess which is pretty darn dismal.

More high powered "offense" by Vic and Texas - 14 - 14 about 2 mins into 2nd qtr. And Holly W doing "color". Paaaiiinnfulll to watch.

Does it help us if Texas loses?

As much as I don't like to bring this up...
U.S. News and World Report annually ranks this nation's Universities.
University of Connecticut is ranked #67
University of Tennessee is ranked
#115 (Which is tied with the University of South Carolina)

I should not weigh in on this discussion which has nothing to do with me, but I thought this was a basketball forum not an academic forum. However, by most metrics the University of Connecticut outperforms the University of Tennessee academically speaking. However, this is like Georgia Tech and Auburn fans arguing over who has the best college women’s basketball team (#77 & #85 NET randomly chosen). While in this argument Ivy League schools sit there wondering, “Really? Is this really an argument?”

I have to admit that I have never heard of Dr. Bass and The Body Farm prior to this thread. In my brief research, it actually seems like a worthwhile endeavor in the area of criminal pathology and forensic science. I am not sure why a groundbreaking research facility would be used as a slight on another university outside of the obvious morbid content. Unfortunately, when dealing with certain areas such as criminology, morbid research is a fact of life. Of course, this is coming from someone who visited both the Catacombs of Paris and Pete Lachaise Cemetery (Jim Morrison, Fredric Chopin & Oscar Wilde) on the same day.

That’s fine, Is there a lot of difference between the 40th and 60th ranked football teams? After the top 20-25, it’s all about the same. Also, any chance there is a bit of regional bias? We all know some folks hear a southern accent and start speaking slowly and loudly to you.😂
As an aside, (can I say I was enrolled at UT when I was 5?) I took an anthropology class from Dr. Bass just because of him. Truly my favorite class I ever took. He could make dry information spellbinding. It also didn’t hurt that the last few classes he brought slides (for youngsters I can explain what those are later) from his cases and explained what clues he gathered from the corpses that allowed them to be ID’d or the cause of death determined. A great teacher can make all the difference.

Dr Bass, now in his 90s, is as much a UT institution as Gen. Neyland. And breaking into the body farm ( or more accurately threatening/bragging about doing so) is an absolute rite of passage for every drunken UTK student ever served beer at the Last Lap. We know what's important!

Actually, if you look at just public schools, UConn is ranked 26th in the country and UTenn is ranked 53rd. The real disparity is when you get into acceptance rates (at 75% UTenn will take just about anyone) and grad rates (at 54% not so many stick around). UTenn gets the edge in tuition (they're cheaper) and rotting corpses on campus. :p Not sure what any of this has to do with WCBB. It's more fan "dick out" than anything else.

I'm amazed at the amount of fouling officials let Texas get away with. This is basically WWE

While not a fan of advocating violence, there is the occasional instance when fouling officials is warranted.

Of course, this is coming from someone who visited both the Catacombs of Paris and Pete Lachaise Cemetery (Jim Morrison, Fredric Chopin & Oscar Wilde) on the same day.

Did anything unusual happen at any of the sites?

It's more fan "dick out" than anything else.

And a new battle cry is born.

The B1G got hosed big time. How are Illinois and Purdue seeded lower than Baylor, West Virginia, Marquette, and Miami?!

Maryland also fell to being the last 2 seed behind Utah. Though, I suppose that may not be true with the Terps being put in Greenville 1 in order to avoid putting them opposite Indiana in Greenville 2.

You may be correct. If Conn had only followed Tenn’s example, if we’d only gotten our priorities right, simply asked for advice. A body farm was a possibility overlooked. Definitely limited my academic prowess.
