Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

I’d tell you all my pizza joke, but I’m afraid it’s a little too cheesy.

A marquee type game tonight….should be a close one, surprised Duke is favored on the road.

Damn Rooster you're quick. I didn't see your Duke post a few minutes ago when I looked

No worries, I was trying to decide who I favored in this game, probably Duke by a hair, but I wouldn’t put any money on it tbh. Lawson has many detractors on this site, though I believe she is building a consistent winner at Duke. Wolfpack at home is a dangerous opponent for her tonight however.

NCSU goes as Rivers goes often, kind of like UT with Cooper. Those two have many similarities in their games, though Coop is the better shooter imo and Rivers is the better facilitator. They will both end up in the WNBA, Coop has the higher ceiling once she learns team offense better. Saniyah is likely a role player in the W, she never developed a consistent shot.

I think CKC is trying her best to teach Coop a team offense better, but at this stage she relies on her athleticism and offensive abilities first, you never want to take the confidence away from a player, it’s a fine line tbs. CPS likely would have had much tighter reins on Coop, forcing her into more of a team role, but CKC still has time to work her into that type of player. One of the reasons why I don’t think Coop enjoyed playing for CDS, Dawn has tight leashes on every player. Some players need more freedom.

That is not all together true. The jersey can be retired but the numbers cannot. That was changed in 2007. They changed it to jerseys and not numbers. I doubt that anyone will be assigned that number....but they can do it.
"Wilson is also the program’s all-time leading scorer and shot blocker. It’s those tangible achievements, along with her intangibles—leadership, dedication, commitment, joy—that led Dawn Staley to declare that no future Gamecock will wear No. 22. Per the policy of South Carolina’s athletic department, the retirement of an athlete’s jersey does not prevent a future athlete from wearing that number. But for South Carolina women’s basketball, No. 22 is now sacrosanct."

Saw Dawn say that on national TV. I get it, A’ja was instrumental in the programs’ rise to prominence. And she is the role model type you want to build around for future young players as an example of what can be done at your school. The fact that she is currently considered by many to be the best WBB player in the world cements what is possible for all the young girls out there today.

Never mind the few cranks here that keep trying to disparage her and her school for celebrating what she has meant to their team and the game. Every successful program has a player(s) who impacted their team and the sport in significant ways and nobody can say how or when they should honor those types, it’s a community decision. I believe SC has handled everything perfectly with her. She is an amazing ambassador for the sport today and is motivating young girls to play the sport. You will be hard pressed to find a better person/role model for those girls.

That's pretty much what I said.

There is a new leader in the conference for scoring PPG. Click the conference button for conference only stats. Also, I am a bit surprised Vandy is near the bottom in defense for conference play.

Stats - Women's Basketball - Southeastern Conference
I can't imagine why on Earth you would be pointing to this ! Seriously, SC is having a tremendous season so far to be leading in both offense and defense in a tough conference.
On a side, I am pleasantly surprised the LVs are in the middle of the pack in defensive PPG given our stacked early conference schedule and how it is often ripped by fans. It is in a work in progress. SC is the standard.

It’s the thread for non lady vol news and fans from other schools to post about their teams, but also the conference in general. No ill intent meant, it’s just where we can post these things. Outside fans enjoy having a place to talk WBB, we are thankful for this site. Peace.

This ain’t the house of Husky Nan. 🤣😉🤙🏼
Chuck, I always wondered why 95% of fans from other schools go to the boneyard for WBB discussion given her Nazi tendencies. And I also always wondered why so few outside WBB fans migrate here. Might have something to do with about 5% of the posters here who don’t get that the more traffic here the better the site does. It’s like they seriously don’t want the site to grow.
