Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Notre Dame thumps Western Illinois 76-50. Dodson and Westbeld are a really dangerous interior combo, with Miles looking like their next elite PG. They've been sharp in their two games so far. Don't expect them to come within a mile of UConn in their matchup, but will be interesting to see how they do vs. UGA and Ore State.

Mid-Major are starting to make the same impact in women's basketball at they have in the men's game. That extra covid year really helped a lot of teams come back with a lot of experienced players. This was true of SIU and UCF whom were playing today. Those teams will give you a tough game your going to have to fight for 40 minutes.

Anyone heard what’s going on with Zaay? Thought she transferred to Arkansas Pine Bluff but don’t see her on the roster
Interesting 👀… I mean I wanna take her back she made a stupid mistake just need to forgive and forget😂 she looked so much better when she was at TN 2 years removed from her ACL injury I think Zaay pre-ACL is pretty good

update: she is just waiting to be cleared according to her

I see Destiny Salary played for 22 minutes last night for Ole Miss she was not going to see those kind of minutes at TN her transfer made sense then

If you remember she posted something on her story saying it wasn't her choice. I don't know what that meant but i don't think she would of transferred if not for that. This year she would have seen bigger minutes especially in a game like SIU

So Dawn has been giving out pieces of nets from her 2017 championship to other black coaches……and this tweet is the reason why I don’t like SC fans always so shady for no reason because this feels like a slight to idk Pat Summitt🤷‍♀️View attachment 410797View attachment 410798
You should know the facts before you post a hit piece on someone.

"If you were on social media Thursday you probably saw a flood of pictures and videos of college coaches opening a package from Dawn Staley. Enclosed was a note and small box containing a piece of Staley’s 2017 national championship net. It was the fulfilment of a promise made in 2015.
That year, when South Carolina made its first Final Four, Carolyn Peck gave Staley a piece of Pecks 199 championship net she won at Purdue. At the time Peck was the only black woman to coach a national champion. Giving Staley a piece of the net was a sort of passing the torch, with the expectation that when Staley won a championship, she would do the same thing. Staley got her net in 2017, and had to decide who would get a piece of her net. Initially, Staley was going to give it to Arizona coach Adia Barnes, who took the Wildcats to their first Final Four last season. Staley forgot to give the piece to Barnes when Barnes was in Columbia over the summer, and ended up considering.
“I just didn’t know who,” Staley said. “There are a lot of black coaches out there doing good things. I thought about two, three, four of them. Then I thought, hey, let’s just give them all.”
The gesture is meant to offer support and encouragement to other black women head coaches throughout the country"

@Rooster1 I have been a Dawn fan on here even at the risk of getting ribbed by LV fans. I'm hoping you as a representation of SC fans have something to say about other SC fans finding pleasure in coach summitts disease. It was disgusting and if that is how SC represents itself i don't know what else to say...

The message tweeted by "someone" was indeed disgusting. I have no knowledge of that person, though someone here said that they "know" this person is a SC fan. Fair enough, every fan base has some rotten apples. There were some remarks above saying "maybe Dawn supported that line of thought or at the least would not be upset by the post". That's also low blow material and untrue obviously.
