Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

I’m watching UCLA and St. John now. UCLA just has no feel for the game. Soon as they make a couple good plays and open up a lead they completely quit playing.

Were up double figures and let St. John right back in it.

I imagine they will drop from the rankings this week. For certain if they lose this game today.

Is that on Flo Sports if so why I am not watching. Flo Sports made me hate watching a basketball game, but I persevered because it was the Lady Vols. I still have most of the month left may watch some games on there after I rest a couple days from watching the Lady Vols games.

Dropping like a rock. I am looking for the Lady Vols, Michigan, and Iowa State to make a move upwards. I think we can get in between 7 and 9 on the next poll.

Mississippi State looked like a team that could win big games with their backcourt but I guess not

Hayes and her sisters haven't been that great thus far. Carter is back with the team, but playing small minutes off the bench. They could get it together later in the season, but right now some players not playing well enough.

Yes it’s on flo. They pulled it out in the end but only because they had to lol.

You can watch the lady vol replays. Sadly the first quarter of the OSU game is still missing on the replay which is very frustrating.

That is a different Carter. Denae Carter who is a 6’ small forward/guard.

I agree I think we come in around 8/9 in the polls. A few teams ahead of us won’t move. Louisville plays Colorado State today so the outcome of that game will affect our placement. Not sure how far Maryland drops. I’m thinking they drop to right around where we are, 7-10 somewhere. They are a top 10 team at full strength but I wasn’t impressed this weekend. Still plenty of talent and they didn’t rise to the occasion.

Iowa reignites the debate about what to do with ranked teams that don’t play due to COVID. I maintained all last season that it should drop you at least a place or two. That’s part of the game now. Can’t manage that aspect of your program you shouldn’t be rewarded for it with an unchanging rank.

Drove me nuts with USF last season, they didn’t play for almost 6 weeks at one point I believe but their ranking never changed.

None whatsoever. Kohl played some but she’s just too skinny. Mostly Rickea Jackson and Denae Carter checked Hillmon.

Naz is height challenged so it honestly could have been worse. Soon as MSST hits a true center they are going to be toast. If they don’t have J. Carter for SEC play (I suspect they will not) they are going to get bullied in the paint.

Harvey was not highly rated in the Class of 2018 but came with a winning pedigree, winning four state titles in five years at Brentwood Academy. LVs signed Massengill. However, Harvey has been far more productive than Massengill who later transferred to KY. Perhaps, the LVs should have given this young lady a very hard look rather than lose her to out of state USF. She was in our backyard.

Don’t see why Maryland stayed in the top 10. They got blown out by two top 10 teams. Would think that’d be enough to drop them to the teens at least.

Yeah she looks great. They’re daring her to shoot for some reason. She’s making great plays though. Could have taken the high post jumper 3 times in that last possession. Kept making good passes on got rewarded with a wide open layup.

Opponent is really weak, she won’t play much 2nd half. She has taken her game up a notch though this year when called upon. I’m not sure who I would start a team with, her or Bueckers, but they both can dominate when needed.

Just now watching the South Carolina v. NC A&T game, and I have to say Aliyah Boston has become one of my all-time favorite non-Lady Vol players. The transformation of her body from her freshman year to now, and the resulting improvements in her game it brought, is the most impressive I've ever seen at this level. I am amazed by her.

She really is a great player. She could be similar in trajectory to Wilson considering how she’s transformed her body. She already is more versatile in her scoring.
