Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Curry did call Fudd "the next face of women's basketball"...not that it adds any pressure.
Does women's basketball change faces like every year? 2 years ago, Sabrina was "the next face", last year Paige was...and we've already moved on to Azzi?

Generational players are becoming a dime a dozen, it seems...

No. The procedural federal court ruling ref anti trust laid the groundwork for NLI laws passed by most states now, TN included.

No, the ruling is based on antitrust laws. NIL is not a law. It’s also based on a flimsy state law that exist in only one state to date. A ruling was made at the Supreme Court level but if the law in California we’re to change NIL would go away.

I watched the game of UCONN and SC on youtube its early in the season but that Fudd dynamic isn't going to work this year atleast I don't see it.No way is she accepting coming off the bench I believe she's just disguising her real feelings and being a team player and the way parents are involved now I don't think it's sitting well with them either. Paige was everything as a freshman and Fudd had to think I'm coming in as the next big freshman thing and right now it's off script.I will just see how this plays out.
I posted this on Nov 23 it was just an opinion but in my heart I had a strong feeling I would be right. now to see someone post something similar who is more in the know I'm 100% convinced it's not going to work and no parents are not going to stay out of anything that has to do with their child when you are not the parent yes it's easy to say that.they miscalculated what they thought was an advantage going to UCONN : starting, hype, exposure and accolades.its no way Fudd doesn't see herself as just as good or even better than Paige and was thinking I'm going to be in that situation when I get to UCONN so for that Uconn troll who told me to wait til March to see how it plays out.NAH I see it now

There's a great article on Mulkey on ESPN. There is one section I'm curious about - Does anyone knows if Geno followed through and addressed the covid issues after the Baylor Game? If not, I think it speaks to his character. Encouraging someone to speak on a controversial topic to the press with the understanding you would do the same then you say nothing is a bit cowardly.. I know he made some comments two days earlier but they were about riding elevators and eating together.....If he did my bad.

Kim Mulkey's crossroads: Her Baylor past, her LSU present and why she's not apologizing for any of it

"Mulkey later revealed the comments stemmed from a conversation with UConn's Geno Auriemma before their Elite Eight matchup, and said he had asked her to speak out on the topic if Baylor won. Mulkey told Auriemma -- who confirmed the conversation -- she would do so whether Baylor won or lost, and was under the impression Auriemma also would address the topic. A controversial noncall dominated both Auriemma's and Mulkey's postgame videoconferences, though she ended her news conference with the unsolicited comments on testing."

Charlie Creme must not know how to do his bracketology without having 2-3 clear-cut favorites. Hasn't been updated in like 10-12 days. Or maybe its because UCant isn't the overall number 1 seed. That would do it too.

Tennessee NIL Law for NCAA - Spry

TN house bill #1351, signed into law.

Indiana IMO isn't a top 10 team. I thought the same last year when UT beat them. Overrated at least in my opinion.

Well they did go to the Elite 8 soooo 🤷🏼‍♂️

Will agree they don’t look good at the moment though. Their defense usually looks better. Tonight Nc State is just over dribbling and not playing well.

Won’t be at all shocked if Fudd transfers. She and her parents aren’t liking the situation it seems. She’s too talented to ride the pine and Geno is backed into a corner because they made a huge deal about a freshman last season…acted like she walked on water even though she had room to grow. When players aren’t happy minor injuries tend to start keeping them out and then they are gone.

Fudd hasn’t played a full season of basketball since 2018-2019. She was limited with a foot injury in her super abbreviated senior season and nursing another foot injury this summer during her time with USAB.

I don’t know what you’ve seen to indicate that Azzi and her camp aren’t happy with her playing situation (she’s averaging 19.5mpg…), but until her grandparents put their house in Storrs on the market, I don’t think UConn has too much to worry about.
