Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Oh goodness TK you didn't! That is hilarious, a great gottcha w/o being too mean. I love this spirit in her.

Really, welcome to your future Tamari. Everyone you play is going to go exactly as far as the refs will let them go. You just have to keep cool no matter the injustice.

Then make em eat leather!

In North Carolina’s next 9 games I predict they go 2-7 really curious to see them play Nc State Thursday.

They have heavily benefitted in the Net from beating weak teams by large margins. Something I’m noticing this season that I do not care for in the Net. Seems less about who you play and more about where and how you beat them. Their offensive numbers are very inflated due to the poor competition IMO. Not unlike our 17-18 team that started 13-0. We did at least play Stanford in that mix though. It’s January and North Carolina is finally playing their first ranked team and not by choice. They have zero ranked teams in their non-con schedule. None of them were even NCAA teams last season.

North Carolina is very undersized but can score the ball. They have yet to play a team with a good center though. Suspect a player like Kitley may drop 30 on them when they play.

They have only played one quality defensive team in Washington. Washington is rebuilding and has a brand new coach but Tina Langley understands defense and taking Mulkey with her helped a ton. They held the 80ppg NC offense to 58 points.

Wonder if UConn is going to play anymore games this season? Does every team in the Big East have covid going on three weeks?

Needs to be investigated honestly. There is no way.

He’s trying to get Bueckers back from injury because he knows they are totally screwed without her. At the very least he wants Muhl back. Can tell you for certain he does not want Evina running the point any more than they have to.

They look awful when she’s in charge. She looks pretty good, but as a team they’re terrible when she’s the PG. very similar to how our teams functioned when she was the leader here. He’s not blind, he sees that, and I’m certain with his sparkling personality he’s told her as much.

I have serious reservations Buecker’s knee will hold up when she comes back. The initial injury was odd, that joint is not in good shape and surgery isn’t going to fix that in 8 weeks. Very, very funny that after the h*ll he gave us over Evina’s “injury” he is trying to rush a player back to the floor after surgery. 🙄🙄🙄

And he said in an article this week that even if players were available after COVID they would have to have at least 5 days of practice before he could play them.

That’s not the way I’m reading the rule. If you have 7. You play. Whether they come available the day of the game or the week before. The cherry picking based on who is available has to stop. Managing COVID is just like managing injuries. Teams should not be rewarded for poorly managing COVID issues.

Yup! I agree it may look more like 3-6 or 4-5 but they are about to accumulate some losses. The thing that "helps" Coach Banghart is she is without Mcpherson and Key so guaranteed mark my words someone will say she made/missed the tourney without those two so watch out for UNC next year. I bet that is how their narrative will be spun🙄

what irks me is SOME people were comparing her to kellie on here and was saying she was ahead of kellie in terms of progress. If she had said recruiting ... yea i can give them that but kellie has blown Courtney Out the water in all other aspects of the game. We are about to see what coach banghart is about in these next games coming up kellie had been able to win short handed... can she?

That's a way Geno wants to run away from worst record. If they're not winning or losing they shouldn't be on same ranking spot.
He always figures out a way to avoid embarassment on the court but not social media. Covid saved his FF streak a few years ago no doubt they would not have made it and now hes trying to save face for his team being out of the top 25 by cancelling games stating a player must practice for 5 days before they can play after protocols. Simply making **** up to get by and ESPN will follow his every word their such idiots as well.

An ESPN article says that since North Carolina and Nebraska are in the top ten in the Net, they are in “prime NCAA Tournament position.”

That is a setup, and that is disgusting. I expect both teams to have losses, Nebraska and Michigan play tonight, and I’ll cheer whomever plays against Nebraska and North Carolina.

I mean what's the point in playing good teams if you can get in by going undefeated against crappy teams...

Anyone else take note of all those games UCONN cancelled? Seems something is going on with their team, and they are using injury and Covid as excuses. They don’t want to go out and potentially lose to teams they have traditionally scorched on the floor. Even if and when Paige returns, I don’t think UCONN has what it takes to win another championship this year. People are not afraid of them anymore, and I think it’s refreshing David finally took out the Goliath giant that intimated so many teams over the years.

Absolutely its becoming to obvious what they are doing . Geno's is creating new protocols saying his players must practice 5 days straight before their eligible after quarantine SHUT THE FRONT DOOR and just say your scared to play bc your team is terrible without paige LOL

There's no way to know what's really happening behind closed doors, but it's very fortunate for their record that they're getting to postpone these games, particularly since they're down so many of their best players. That road game at DePaul would have been a pretty steep challenge. They'll either get to make up the games later (when they probably have those star players back) or they'll just never have to play them. Very, very fortunate, that.

One thing's for sure. Hell will freeze over twice before anyone - particularly anyone at a certain sports outfit - does any investigative reporting about that angle.

At this rate they may not get in 25 games to qualify for the NCAA tournament. If they have to postpone anymore they will not be able to make them up. Conferences and the NCAA have made it clear they aren’t moving the tournaments this season.

Just watch though. If UCONN doesn’t hit 25 games suddenly the rule will change right before the tournament. 🙄
