Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Actually, it’s the craziness that amuses me and makes me read this site more than the BY. I love the unbridled passion that leads to the nonobjective thought process that would actually make someone believe that a division one coach would ask another team to cancel a game, while that team is sitting on the tarmac in a snowstorm, just so that his team could have more rest. If he was going to do that, he might as well ask Doug Bruno to allow Morrow to transfer for immediate eligibility while the team is shorthanded. I am not sure if you are aware but Virginia just forfeited a game due to travel issues - then again, they have a UConn transfer on the team, so maybe it is related.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot….after you look that up? GTFO 😤, here.

Why would you think I don’t know what that stands for? I’m a former United States Army paratrooper. Also, for the same reason, my skin is pretty thick, so I have no plans to go anywhere. I’m relatively respectful when I post on sites from other fan bases, as I was this time. If your feelings get hurt because I said, “I like the unbridled passion that leads to not objective thinking,“ then that sounds more like your problem than mine.

It wasn’t only the partial selected quote out of context, it was the balance of your comment. Personally, on that specific point, I feel most of our board keeps a centered perspective. To associate “our” perspective with the occasional drive by conspiracy theorist is less than a critical opinion.

I’m just keeping the Connies stirred up. I like to give them something to talking about when they put their tail between their legs and run back to the Boneyard. The crazier they think we are, the less of them we see here 😉😉😂

I wasn't referring to the "centered perspective" portion of the board, I was referring to the "crazier" portion that the original poster mentioned. It is those posters that make me laugh with irrational thinking, and those are the ones who make me keep coming back to see what they will say next. Almost like when you approach a car wreck on the highway and you know you should look away - but just can't. The "centered perspective portion sound just like normal sports fans that I read just to get perspective, but they do not keep me coming back here. Gotta love conspiracy theorists. I am sorry if I sounded insulting, which was not my intention, but on the other hand, if you interpreted it that way, that might be your perception.

Are you suggesting there are irrational posters at this site? ..surely you jest…
😎
Edit: just trying to find a center here…
My Freud slipped in there …

And down goes Arizona. A rivalry game, but a bad loss no less. Will they drop 6 spots in the poll? Time will tell.
This is another example of where poor FT shooting cost a team a victory. Arizona went 24-35 from the line, while Arizona State went 31-34 from the line. Fundamentals of the game are important.

Hasn’t specifically bit us in the a** yet. We’ve moved in the correct direction with regard to free throws. Not just % wise but with regard to who is taking the shots.

This could be a blue font comment given the similarity to the actual actions taken by the coach in question re: one of our starters. The best part was the hissy fit he threw when our AD wouldn't aid his efforts to get the player immediate eligiblibilty.

With that in mind, should we take your post to mean that you are open to conspiracy theories?

Both teams made crucial errors down the stretch. After a teammate was called for a foul, AZ player slammed the ball with both hands, sending the carom high into the air. State converted all 4 free throws and retained possession, closely missng a FG that would made resulted in a 6-point play off one foul (potentially 7 points if the shooter had been fouled).

On the other hand, State kept rushing up shots over the last three minutes even when they had a 5-point lead. I mean, they were firing it up from outside barely into the shot clock, even on long offensive rebounfs. I was flabbergasted. It wasn't just that they weren't tryi g to run clock...they acted as though they were down by 5. And they weren't gimmes or wide-open layups, either. I could swear that I saw one player track down a rebound or loose ball and almost immediately fire it up from the baseline...at an angle that looked almost behind the backboard. This when they still had the lead and just needed to keep AZ from getting the ball. They just kept giving ball back to AZ without much clock at all running. Dangdest thing I've ever seen in that situation.

I also didn't know why State coach didn't pull her players off the line after her FT shooter had just put them up by 4 with only a second or so left. (Clock had stopped with 0.6 left, but I thought refs may have added a second or so back). State players were battling for rebound and you never know when someone could commit a silly foul and give the other team FT with clock stopped and a chance for a tip and foul on a missed second FT on other end. Not likely, but still....

The teams, regardless of current ranking, which I as a SC fan would least like to meet in the tourney as of today are in order:
1) Stanford
2) Uconn (even without PB, with her 100%, this moves up to number 1 IMO)
3) Louisville
4) Az (dropping)
5) NCSU
6) Baylor (climbing)
7) Mich
8) OK
9) Indiana
10) IowaSt

This is fluid obviously, but as of today that’s how I rank the danger level of having to play each of those teams in the tourney. Iowa could be an honorable mention with Clarke, but a good defense probably keeps her below 30 and she has only one other teammate to worry about. Tenn is also an honorable mention if they get their elite def back, but having only one true 5 now makes their margin of error very small. After that, I suppose if Oregon gets their act together by then I would consider them a threat as well. ND could be a dark horse, but they are prob a year away from true threat. Baylor is starting to peak btw. Scary good if it keeps up, Kim is gone but their new style is just starting to click. I almost listed LSU, and certainly they could be very dangerous, I still don’t know how to rank them.

Btw, LV fans, this is no slight to your team who may very well beat SC this year, but I was doing an objective thought process and I believe its Unfort that Green was injured but in the tourney teams will know that UT has 5 fouls to give at the 5 spot before there is trouble.
*updated list

After the Lady Vols beat SC on Feb. 20, will they get an upgrade? As always go Lady Vol's.

If we lose to SC ….? We need LSU to beat Florida and give them another lose. Then we can get a second seed in the SEC tournament by beating LSU on the last game of the regular season …Just thinking ahead ….. 🤔

Georgia should've beat Florida choked away a seven point lead late in that game. So yes we need a lot out of LSU luckily one of them has to lose. I say that because we are still competing with both of them for a top 16 bid in the NCAA Tourney. This to me is far more important than whether we get second, third, or fourth in the SEC seedings they all come with a double bye. So thinking LSU win over Florida, so we can have the option, if we don't lose over one before then to play for that second seed if as it appears likely we can't win on the road at SC.

LSU is the hardest team to peg IMO, they could make a run, or lose early. I’m not certain on Indiana or Iowa St yet either, it’s so fluid still. And Fla is prob worth a mention, again, they are like LSU, might make a run. Fla is interesting, they need to lock that coach up fast, nobody knows if she can recruit yet but she sure as hell can coach a team. Got thrown into the fire, lost her leading scorer to injury and is 8-3 in conference so far, she can coach. If Fla is stupid and passes on her she gets a Power 5 job quickly.

Would love to hear anyone’s thoughts on BYU, have not seen them play this year, 2 losses: @ OK by 8 and @ Portland who is decent.

Tech prolly wants some revenge because their first match up didn't go well and they can play much better

They are much tougher at home as well. I think they win today. I was surprised at the result in the first game. UNC does not matchup well with Kitley, if they can get her the ball today they will be in business.
