Non-Lady Vol news 2018-19

Exactly and they protected her with that 2-3 Zone because she can’t defend in man to man yet. Jennings dropped the ball because she never established herself as a low post presence. Luckily for SC we won’t have to deal with Samuelson and Collier next year and we add Boston and Amihere down low with Zia and Brea joining the backcourt. I like our chances next year especially in Columbia where the zebras won’t give UConn every call.
I didn't see the game. Did the refs give uconn
"every call" ?
I ask because the box score has SC with 17 team fouls while uconn had 14.
At least you won one category.

SC got called on simple hand checks while UCONN could throw elbows, go over the back and send our girls flying to the floor. The box score doesn’t tell the game how it really happens.

Bullsh*t. That "the refs jobbed us" whine is really getting old. SC lost because they were out played. Actually, they didn't just lose - they got their a** whipped again. What is it now 8-0???

UConn is ranked #1 in the NCAA D1 for fewest fouls committed. SC is ranked #132. UConn has played more games away than at home so I guess ALL the D1 refs, even those in road games, must be biased for UConn. And all the refs, even the "homers" must be biased against SC.

There were a lot of no calls going both ways, but I thought the game was called pretty even. There was one odd off the ball foul called against SC late in the game that I'm not sure I understand but the announcer explained that it was a rare, but correct call. I'll take his word for it.

The lament of a losing team's fan.
We were robbed !
If only those biased refs called a fair game, we would have won !
Is there a fan base in existence that doesn't say that after a loss ?
I've watched uconn play a couple of games this year. They are anything but a physical team (see the Baylor game).
You'll have to come up with another "reason"
why you lost by 18. Here's one, you're not as good as they are.

I wasn't sure how to take Dawn's comment last night in the postgame presser. . . "Nobody in the SEC plays like Uconn". Surely they are beatable (maybe not by her). This year they are just a good time, among a lot of good teams.
Stylistically who in the SEC plays like UConn? That is what she was getting at & that's why it's a good OOC game to have. Trying to put together a balanced yet challenging OOC schedule is tough I'm sure. As far as execution and forcing your team to learn to guard something different then yeah she was right. I can't think of anyone who plays like them in the SEC. When you think about the SEC in general what is it known for? I think very physical defense is what comes to mind first. When you think UConn you think cutting, passing, assists ect. She's giving her kids some different flavor that will help them along the way. Seemed like she was acknowledging the difference in styles of play.

Woah I must have struck a nerve! I take it your a UConn fan? Yes UConn is the better team but the foul discrepancy was one sided. No matter how you slice it. SC still has a lot to play for and the game is already behind us.

You don’t have to be physical to foul LOL!! A simple swipe down (which happened a lot) when someone is driving through the lane is a foul. Throwing elbows is a foul. Etc but I digress. SC still has a lot to play for so I’m over it.

He knows how to coach. SC played out of their minds the first half... and then...
Auriemma made halftime adjustments, and whipped them in thhe second. 97-79 final.

Holly's idea of halftime tinkering? Take whatever's working and bench them.
Te’a Cooper got into foul trouble and that was the difference. She went out and UConn went on a run to end the half. Boy I wish we still had her. She looks great this year. I wonder if she will return to SC or get married instead.

Death, taxes, Geno humiliates Dawn in the "big" game. Staley should send Schaefer flowers every week for knocking out UConn during her title run...

Nope. No nerve struck. Just tired of hearing loser fans that wouldn't know a foul if it kicked them in the a** The only thing one sided was the a** whuppin that SC took-again.
From what I saw the big dog had a fried chicken dinner.

It’s a big game but not the biggest games. SC will bounce back, especially next year with our #1 class. we have a lot to play for as we can still win the SEC and get a good seed. Wonder if you’ll be singing the same tune about your beloved Lady Vols when they travel up there next year....

Speaking of “Big Games” seems like these last games are all big for UT. 😂

Thought she was done but she came back and everything seemed fine.

I think they scored 50 points in the paint (UConn). Thats tough to beat.
I like that Te’a doesn’t mind mixing it up, will dive for loose balls, takes the ball to the hoop, efforts there.

6'4" Center Alexandrine Obouh-Feque is a sophomore EFSC Titans, Fla. who plays like a pro and has statistics to prove it.
She is an Honorable Mention All American who would be a great addition to UT next year if recruited.

When only one team wins every single time by a million points it isn't a big game. And it probably isn't the refs either...
Don't you guys play UCONN next year? I look forward to seeing what that final score will look like lol UCONN beat the defending champs by 18 also on ND's home floor so they must be pretty good. Meanwhile you'll likely struggle to beat Auburn tomorrow.

Were gonna get bashed as long as we have Holly. The one thing she could've done was to stay away from a series with them with her as head coach. I guess she wants to bash us a little more so when that game comes around we'll take whatever they hand out our program is at the bottom right now no matter who we recruit.

We are well aware of our situation. No need for just a chicken to remind us.

Ugh. I sure didn't need that clucked-up reminder today. I try avoid thinking about that game.

Uconn will probably have their weakest team in years when we play them. Samuelson and Collier will not be easily replaced. That being said, as presently constituted, there will still be one mismatch in their favor.

The way I feel about Holly now they could line up the sisters of the poor and beat us. She doesn't instill confidence in me mainly because she can't even beat the lowly Bama program, and we have to make a late game surge to beat one of the worst Vandy teams in years.
