For some reason this set is exactly what I thought of first when I heard he’d died. I agree, it’s probably my favorite non-Giraldo moment from any of the Roasts. This to me might be the greatest moment in roast history. It's a microcosm of Norm's place in showbiz. Nobody but a few of the comics got the bit right away. Then some of the audience starts to get it. Then nearly everybody was dying (surely with some people still thinking "wtf is this?"). The clip only shows near the beginning of his set, but OMG, you have to find the whole thing and watch it.

Love to listen to Conan's Pod, esp with older members of SNL, Carvey & Nealon. Never appreciated it, till now. So much rehearsing, adlibbing, to find that schtick. Not only do those guys have to practice and memorize routines, that cadence. Man, Norm's was great.

My favorite Giraldo roast joke was the time he looked Pamela Anderson right in the eye and said "You've caused me to spill more seed that Muhammad Ali at a birdfeeder." Or a very similar thing he said to Brigitte Nielsen at the Flavor Flav roast that I'm not really sure I should post.I lost it the time he called Kathy Griffin “Tranny Bonaduce.”
