I am located in Fayetteville, NC. I went to Mars Hill College near Asheville back in the late 80s. Have been a Vol fan ever since...18 years to be exact.

Im a Tarheel born....spent 8 years in redneckville (Shelbyville, Tenn) but my family went to UGA and had an Uncle on the team, so I guess UGA fan by the grace of God. I am a Georgia Southern graduate...home of 6 National Championships.

Well, i'll give you credit for your football alleigance, but UNC BBall fans are as bad as Bama football fans....and you KNOW this, MAN.

Just kidding, kind of...you really do have the best of both worlds don't you???

Actually i would compare Bammer to NC State. Not even the best team in the state and getting hit with NCAA sanctions every so often. UNC graduates 98 percent of BBall players under the great Dean Smith.

Asheville is a very nice clean town, watch out for the earth, granola types in the downtown area, they really look out of place in the mountains. Remember NC doesn't end in Asheville theres still 100 miles of NC west of you.
Murphy High School is in the final round of the State Championships against Thomasville, go Bulldogs!!!! :yahoo:

Yea, thats what I heard!!!!! Well, I will be the hillbilly hibernating in the mountains!!! :D We have explored all of the mountains west. I actually have never been into Asheville yet!!!!! (will be day after tomorrow!)

Do you know anything about the town Marion? Its east of Asheville. I found a little house there I am interested in. I have little ones who have to attend school. I am wondering if they are ok there.

I'm in High Point. I am originally from Sparta (yert!), but have lived in NC for about 10 years now (3 years of HS, 4 years of college and 3+ years of a "real job"). There's a pretty active Piedmont Triad Chapter of the Alumni Association here. The president, Bruce, was nice enough to allow me to join even though I'm an NCSU alum. So, yeah, both my two favorite CFB teams have struggled on offense this year.

Marion isn't a bad little town. I have a son who is 13 and we play baseball tournaments there often in the spring and fall. Don't know anything about the schools there. WNC is a great place to live, welcome to the neighborhood.

Marion is cool, it's not far from MT. Mitchell, highest point in the east, I have ridden my bicycle from Marion to Grand Father Mtn, great ride, if the schools are anything like they are here in Murphy you will be impressed, the smaller towns really take an interest in the children.

Congrats to Thomasville, that is some awesome back you have there.
Yes that was a great team with Pickens, and there were several other weapons also. :gun:

Black Mountain, NC here. Home of Brad Johnson, Brad Dougherty, Rev. Billy Graham. My high school alma mater is where Roy Williams coached BB before he went to UNC as Dean Smith's assistant. I work in Old Fort NC, 11 miles west of Marion. McDowell county has a very good school system with huge consolidated county high school. Marion is a pretty little town of about 15,000, I'd estimate. Approximately halfway between Asheville and Hickory, NC. Suggest McDowell is a better place to live than Buncombe because of the lower tax base.

I just got back last night. I stayed in Black Mountain!!! I absolutely fell in love with that town!!!!!!!! We stayed at the Monte Vista. I had a great time and we will be moving around the 20th. We are going to get an apt in Asheville but are hoping to buy a house a little ways out. I would love to find one in Black Mtn!!!!
