I'm not a huge NFL fan by any stretch of the imagination, however I do watch the playoffs and Super Bowl every year. Frankly, I dont see this year's matchup very interesting at all. Pats win, undefeated, blah blah blah. Anyone else?

plus it is NY v. Boston.

maybe we can turn this into a Gibril Wilson thread so it will have some relevance to the Vols.

I think it's a decent matchup. The Giants gave the Patriots some trouble at the end of the regular season.

Other than the Cowboys, the Giants represent the NFC's best matchup against the Pats. Sure, Favre and the Packers would have made for nice television...but, I think the Giants have a better shot, even if it's a long one.

An oversight on my part Doozer. Excuse me. I am certain this has NEVER happened before.

problem for me with the whole thing is that the Giants have talked about their big turnaround against the Pats and how well they (and Eli) played in that game.

They lost.

I'm just not real hyped up for it. Hell, they opened New England up at 14 pt favorites. What's the point? It reminds me of San Deigo v San Fran in 95 I think, ....somewhere around there. Not real interesting.

Maybe their narrow loss against the Pats gave them some confidence...maybe it helped them believe that they can play with anyone.

I think the Patriots dominance in the 4th quarter of that game was pretty indicitave of just how easy it is for New England to elevate their performance above their competition when the game is on the line. And I don't think there's a team in the league that could win 2 out of 3 against them....but, on any given Sunday....

Did I hear correctly last night? Ryan Seacrest from the red carpet before the game? :swoon3:

I am a big football fan. I watch the Superbowl every year, regardless of who is playing.

That said, there are some interesting subplots in this one:
Seeing a team go 19-0 for the first time in history would be kind of neat. As would seeing a team go 18-0 and blowing it in the big game.

The often maligned little Manning brother (and Cutcliffe product) making it to the SB. I wonder how Tiki feels right now?

Regardless of who wins, a Vol will win another Superbowl ring.

Honestly, the last game of the regular season between these two was a very entertaining game.

I'll be tuning in.

I'll be checking it out, of course... Because I always do.

And I'm rooting for the Pats, because I want to see New York go down.

We've already started making our SB party plans, so we'll be watching and I'll find a way to hate the Patriots (and the insufferable Bostonians) enough to root hard for the Gmen.

I would love to see Manning come out and say that a huge part of this team gelling into what it is today was getting rid of Tiki "the Cancer" Barber.

I just hope it's still a close game by the 4th quarter. And Ryan Seacrest is going to be there? I guess that's why they invented the mute button.
