My Prediction:

I bet Bellichik gets a fancy new hooded sweatshirt after the game, and Seacrest comes out of the closet. Now then we're talking "must see tv".

Everyone knows the SB is only played for the new commercials to be released.

That said, go Giants. No Pats bandwagon for me.

I will always watch the super bowl... I'm pulling for perfection, but if they blow it, it is always a good feeling that Boston is crying. Especially when the Red Sox won.

I'm not a huge NFL fan by any stretch of the imagination, however I do watch the playoffs and Super Bowl every year. Frankly, I dont see this year's matchup very interesting at all. Pats win, undefeated, blah blah blah. Anyone else?

plus it is NY v. Boston.

Two of the biggest media markets in the free world. Advertisers, businessmen, etc. are giddy.

My point exactly Biz. We wont be able to escape it. I hope they both play to the death.

My personal beef with the Super Bowl is the two week dead period. From this comes some of the worst reporting and "personal interest" stories known to man. Also, good stories that can hold weight lose all respect because they are getting ran into the ground.

For example, last year it was obvious that a black head coach was going to win the SB. Great story, great set-up, yet it was ran into the ground before the Monday of week #2.

This year I'm going to guess the Manning angle will be like a needle in my ear. Also, Tom Coughlin and his coaching, Tiki Barber, obviously the Pats and perfection.

I'm sure we'll also hear about how the 3rd string long snapper for the Giants used to live in a garage, supporting his family on selling paintings he painted with his right foot or something.

but I do love the "kiss my arse, Tiki" story.

Very true. I, myself, also enjoy that one. Tiki is outspoken for one reason, "RATINGS". He knows it, NBC knows it, the general public is about to see him for what he is.

Someone that spews crap they may not really mean for the sake of ratings and in the end being the guy with egg on face.

To add to your examples: The second string D back who had an aunt's friend's, sister's, dog that was lost during Katrina. The emotional impact of the loss is almost more than he can bear however, the millions of dollars do make up for some of it.

In a serious Network voice with Sports Century Classic theme music in the back ground:

"This is a story of overcoming all obstacles, a story of truimph, a story of one man, one city, one dog, and one dream. Hello again folks I'm Jermey Schaap."

he was a pretty decent, stand-up guy until that crap. Right or wrong, it's just crap that doesn't belong in the public realm. His teammates didn't throw him under the bus as they endured years of fumbles and enormous teeth.

I wasn't aware that UVA had produced any stand-up decent guys.
