Nash Nance will be a senior this year at Hampden-Sydney College, he's been putting up pretty good numbers.

Being local to NW ga, I've always been frustrated that there haven't been more Vols recruited out of this area. As others have already mentioned, there are some powerful high school programs in the area like Calhoun and Dalton. I am speaking mostly about Calhoun because I have far more intimate knowledge of the process for building that program's success. The high school powers in this area often reach success through efforts to build a solid system and savvy among their players rather than rely on individual talents that players have. Not to say there haven't been some phenomenal talents from the area, but the success of such programs has been built on quality S&C programs, team chemistry/work ethic, and scheme. When great individual talent comes through it certainly helps, but it's not the cornerstone of these local schools' success.

NE Ga is definitely not part of the metro Atlanta area. Metro Atlanta is huge but doesn't reach up to the Dalton and Calhoun areas. Sean Young was the highest profile recruit that I remember coming out of that area. Thought to be a lock for Ga he spurned his Dad's wishes and opted for Tennessee. He never lived up to his hype but was a decent OL later in his career.

Ended up starting 20 games or so, and got a cup of joe with the Jets iirc. Being a starter in the SEC is a pretty good accomplishment.

Brian Randolph went to one of the rival schools in our town. He was a little after me though. But the school I went to is terrible at football so we weren't as into as Brian's school is.

There is a kid that should be on a lot of D1 programs this year playing for Dalton. Eder Mora. Also I agree Dalton has been somewhat down the past couple of years. Watch out this year and next year. They have some really solid talent coming up. My wife teaches at Dalton Middle and they always talk about the kids that are coming up.

I think god everyday I was able to transfer out of that piece of $h!t school, LFO. Northwest Georgia may be the worst area outside the state of Alabama
