Now is the time to dispassionately think long term, Tennessee cannot afford to risk another coaching change!! Heupel is an incredible talent and must stay!! We will go 10-2 and to a major bowl this year, beaten top 10 teams and in the running for the national championship...astounding by any objective measure.
I appreciate the passion here. You won me over. What can I say? You got me thinking things through more with a good argument.
LSU at 11:00 am is not a road game. Fans were still asleep and not a hostile environment.
Pitt ended up being a mediocre-to-low ACC team that actually took us to overtime before we could win.
Next year, we will face UF, AL, KY and Mizzou on the road. Those environments will be true Road environments. I want to see his ability to win in those situations before I finance my future.
We have been too loose with extensions and raised in the past for any signs of improvement. This has led to us having huge buyouts because we jumped too fast. I do not think any teams are going to come pull him away from us after that turd left in SC.
Not only Oklahoma, but other school will smell a sense of uneasiness and deliver a Brinks truck to Heupel’s house. I’m as disappointed as anyone, but let’s not exacerbate the loss. Any of us would take 10-2 before the Alabama game. And if Oklahoma comes for Heupel and he feels UT doesn't appreciate what he's done for the program and leaves, you will be the first to say: Why'd they let him get away?
What amount of success is enough for you? He recruited hard from the portal. He changed a toxic culture after Pruitt. He developed Hooker into a potential Heisman candidate. He beat Bama after a 15yr drought. He got TN to the #1 ranking......
bbbbbut, but he lost a game he should've won.
You guys are ridiculous.
If Vandy is even mildly competitive with us, I would not extend. I want to see Josh handle all aspects of being a head coach before we saddle ourselves with a great OC being paid as a Top 10 head coach.Last night doesn’t eliminate the great work done by Heupel and co this season even though it sucks bad. If we bounce back and beat Vandy next week, last night will be forgiven. 10-2 regular season, breaking the Bama/Florida streak, LSU drubbing on the road/#1 in the country, no trifling things
thats hilariousMan, I hadn't seen the Mark Stoops contract extension. He's now the 6th highest paid coach in college football. That's unreal.

Heupel needs a contract extension and raise now!! Kentucky just gave Stoops.an extension through 2030 and raise to a guaranteed $9 Million per year and an increased buyout!! Now is the time to dispassionately think long term, Tennessee cannot afford to risk another coaching change!! Heupel is an incredible talent and must stay!! We will go 10-2 and to a major bowl this year, beaten top 10 teams and in the running for the national championship...astounding by any objective measure
LSUKirby's record and finally winning a championship is a testament to how hard it is to get thru the SEC each year without a loss. We love to beat each other up. And look at those 7-1 conference records---who do you think those 1 losses were ? What other team in the SEC besides Bama can match that win/loss record for the last decade? What other SEC team besides Bama has won the national championship in the last decade ?

This is the logic that got us in a whole paying huge buyouts to coaches that were going nowhere. We don't need to get stupid to keep a coach. Ut has made a great commitment to Heupel. If he ever wanted to go, he will go, but throwing crazy money at people out of a fear they may leave is foolish, and we see it's issues at places like A&M, Ok State, as well as with Fulmer, Butch, etc.
