Investigation of Rubio's involvement now. Hope he didn't do anything to recruits. Its being said that he was just paving the way for entry to the school not recruiting.

This is getting ridiculous. We know the rules. There's no need to break them in a situation like this. I'm sure the utmost care was taken to ensure that that did not happen.

Who is Rubio?

Grad assistant from St. Thomas Aquinas who went back to his high school to watch a game.

Thank goodness he didn't have a sign or, at least, that evidence hasn't surfaced yet.

The NCAA rules are so stupid.

This is no more than an orchestrated effort by someone who wants to see Kiffin and Company fail and halt the momentum that he has built up in recruiting

When all this garbage passes, someone from NYT better get sued. And I hope it goes back to a gator. People are getting desperate to bust Kiffin, and I'm actually impressed that nothing has come out of it yet because every program does sketchy stuff, but this has got ridiculous.

I think "it" comes down to he said, she said and they said, we said. Now while I don,t think any rules have been broken. Although stretched, in the end I think we end up with Kiffin rule #s 2,3,4, possibly 5. Even that assumes he started these practices which i don't think he did. It happens through out College Football. We are just getting the focus and media attention. Which is a very good thing right up and until we are censured. Which I don't see happening.

Don't fan the fire.

None of this is going to matter at all.

Even if the thing about Rubio is true it is a secondary violation. The hostess thing isn't even going to be a violation.

Stop worrying. Talk about something else.

:run:

Does that take your mind off recruiting violations?

I'm sure you're not in the least bit biased right? :)

I've said it before, but the ncaa SHOULD be investigating the hostess situation, especially after what happened in Colorado....Obviously it is effecting our program so we are upset, but if we had heard that hostesses from Florida had shown up at a HS in TN, I believe most of us would feel differently.... However, the whole "guilty until proven innocent" approach that the NY Times have taken is obviously wrong and absurd, but the fact that the NCAA is investigating is accurate and what should happen for the interests of these individuals and our school.

I'm okay with "guilty until proven innocent" only because that's how our society reacts to things these days. It's commonplace.

However, what I'm not okay with re: NY Times is how they (Thamel) reported this story as quickly as possible going off of hear-say. They reported the girls were in UT gear, holding "Come to Tennessee" signs, and have been MORE THAN DIRECT with their OPINION saying the girls were "coached and trained" by UT.

Thamel lost all journalistic integrity to get his name attached to a national story.

Also, it's still just a "review" and not an investigation unless you know something I don't.

Now, see my post on the previous page.

All of this is certainly total BS.....but CLK did bring this on himself in a lot of ways. It will be interesting to see if this causes him to choose his words AND battles a little more carefully in the future.

He went with Kiffin on a recruiting trip, and that in illegal.

Several things to look at here. No one knows what his involvement was while on the trip if any. The only reason it is an issue now is because of the timing of the hostess thing. If not we would have probably not heard about it.

Do I think CLK was using him for recruiting on the trip. Yes, why do you think he was hired. He is an alum of one of the best HS FB teams in the country and has relationships in one of the hottest recruting areas for prospects. Do I think it is wrong NO, because I am sure that other coaches do this to gain some advantage. Most assistant coaches are hired for recruiting relationships more than their ability to coach. The reason so many are on staff at the universities. This kid was offered a free graduate education to help recruit. It helps both sides.

Is it wrong in the eyes of the NCAA, yes, but they are looking for anything right now on UT and CLK. What also is wrong though is the NCAA and their desire to destroy programs when the goal should be protect the best interest of the players. They have become a police force that harasses programs, but yet go unchecked themselves because there is no one to monitor them.

Tide...what is wrong is engaging recruits at your alma mater. It has been said by CLK that Rubio went in to see old acquaintances which is permitted by the rules if you would take a moment to read the post above yours. Just wanted to let you know that the more that comes out on this, the more this thread is not necessary. I regret starting it. Simply take a moment and read what LWS put up about the exerpts and you will see.
