OP I can see your perspective. And there are some points I can agree with you. But I believe we are turning the corner. And my main point of emphasis I want you too look towards is our special teams play. It's been amazing. You can't argue that it's been nothing but stellar. We are on our way back.

I want to believe we have turned the proverbial corner, but two things irk me. For your consideration:

1. Richt after a big win (LSU). I actually had a feeling this was going to happen so much so that I took the Vols plus the points and won. Look at Richt's track record. The Dawgs have a history of laying eggs when they have just beaten a big opponent. It has happened on multiple occasions. Couple that with the 14 point lead they jumped off to and they were absolutely primed for an upset.

2. The injuries. We did not outplay the number 6 Georgia Bulldawgs. We outplayed the number 20 (or some such) Georgia Bulldawgs (due to talent loss) who were reeling from injuries and hence shell-shocked.

For these two reasons, I am not willing to say we've turned a corner.

Butch's gutsiness on 4th down, the raucous environment, the play of the freshmen and Pig, and the effort given in the second half, though, are all tangible things that have me hoping. I think it is a bit too early to annoint Butch as savior of Volunteer Football. My confidence meter just ticked up though.

How dare you, sir.

Exactly. Partial credit.

They get full credit for those 4th and 1's. They get full credit for a blocked punt and score. They get full credit for coming out and playing hard and taking it to the wire. If you have need to piss on that or temper it then I really don't know what else any of us could add. Of course they lost some key players.

Of course they have Richt. Didn't stop us from getting rolled by UGA in previous years.

And by the way, getting behind by 14 points in the first half is not generally how a 14 pt dog pulls an upset.

so sick of people playing the injury card in UGA's defense. Last time I checked, we have plenty of injuries on our team too. Wake the F' up and think before you post. I agree this doesnt mean weve actually turned a corner but to blame our performance on their injuries makes me sick.

To me, it was more about their shell shock of seeing guy after guy after guy carted off.

It is night and day since last year. Agreed. Palardy is fixed.

You also have to consider that those injuries were caused by physical play from UT. I give you Gurley and the WR who got hurt against Clemson, but the injuries that occurred on Saturday were caused in large part by how UT was playing. Also, as has been mentioned before UT was down several significant players as well. Injuries are part of the game. :hi:

I'm just proud of Team 117 and was genuinely reinvigorated after watching that game, especially after the USA debacle. That was one of the more memorable games I have ever watched inside of Neyland and I've seen some good ones. I'm sure fans will have their own perspective but pissing in a perfectly good bowl of cheerios so no one gets too excited just sounds lame.

Regardless of all that, this was the first game that I thought the coaches put everything together. They opened the playbook, had a very good game plan to begin with, and made adjustments as the game went on.

Keep in mind that this defense held GA to only 17 first half points and three of which came from a very long field goal. They held them to only 14 points in regulation in the second half. These numbers are far below their average.

The question I would like to have answered is, where have those plays been? We have been so vanilla on offense. Butch must have been saving them.

Fans in Athens think their program is infallible. So I'm not sure they do know

They're all around me. They know they barely escaped with their life and between injuries and that defense, somebody is going to get them den the road.

You can't compare having some guys get nicked up in practice to seeing three of your top players leave the field with what all looked to be season enders on the road. That and already having two guys in the secondary not playing, the actual top WR already out for the year, the best player in football (Gurley) already out for the game, a 6'6" WR out with a ham string and you have a recipe for a fight no matter who you are playing. But for Murray to put the team on his back and still put out a win with the third and fourth string RBs, 3 of his original top 4 WRs out and the left side of the OLine not getting it done is impressive to say the least.

My brother in law a UGA fan who was with us at the game agrees. That was bitter sweet for them. Most of the car ride home was spent with him trying to decipher who they had left in the skill positions.

I am very interested to see what happens against SCe. That tell us a lot, IMO.

For those that are determined to view this team and this staff in a negative light, Its just another lame excuse to use so that you dont have to admit the improvement thats being made.
