Not so sure!!!!

We got lucky. They missed 3 fieldgoals amd played with a hurt quarterback. I really expected much more from our Vols. I am not convinced we have turned any corner.... Hopefully this was just a tough game. I worry about Florida and if we do not play consistent we may have a few more losses... keeping fingers crossed.

Agreed - we are going to need to improve in many areas - but we did play hard and managed to pull out a win. We are not as good on offense as we were at this time last year. Needs a lot of work. We did get some good pressure on the qbs which was very good to see.

They missed fgs, we muffed a punt, had a punt blocked, fumbled, overthrew a td, and so on. If this if that doesn’t matter. After making every possible mistake, we still came away with a ranked win on the road. I’ll take it.

We got miracle lucky and played a lot of close games in 98. Am I saying this team is comparable to 98? No. But luck breaks are part of football.

UT's defense is why Pitt's QBs were hurting as well as why Pitt was forced to take FGs that they missed.

UT played a darn good game against a very tough Pitt team and won a dog fight.
They won a dogfight, but neither team played a darn good game.
A wins a win but let’s not sugarcoat it.
I doubt seriously that Hype is gonna be patting a lot of players on the back and telling them how darn good they played in practice next week

We have some issues and they will be a problem as the season progresses. Hopefully we correct the obvious and improve weekly. We aren’t there yet, but we are improved.

I’ll absolutely take it. Seen us lose plenty of games like that the last 15 years. Seems like we’re starting to get a few breaks when so many have gone against us. Only real concern I have is that the OLine struggled. But give Pit credit. They ran some exotic blitz packages. Win and move on to the next one.

I want to preface this by saying I am not calling for UT to win a natty this year. The commentators pointed out this was the first game UT has played in the northeast since Syracuse 1998. Yall who are older than me me will remember that was a tight game against a scrappy big east team similar to Pitt nowadays, that UT could have easily lost, but UT won all the rest. Something about going out of your comfort zone can bring sloppy play. Not sure what happens the rest of this season but all I can say is it's better to win ugly than to be A&M or Notre Lame.
POTY!!! Stole my thunder and the whole damn game felt like Syracuse.

And they didn't get lucky? All I saw was tipped balls that never got intercepted, QB's under extreme duress completing passes through Vols arms, etc. It was a miracle they scored any at all. All in all it was pretty even what with the reviewed calls especially that pass in OT with heel on the line. I thought that was gonna count for sure. Way to go SEC refs.

Can you people not just enjoy a win!!! We won the game. Made the plays we needed to make and overcame our own mistakes! We took advantage when the breaks came our way. Had Flowers not muffed the punt, the game would not have even gone to overtime. If I remember correctly, our national championship season involved two key missed fieldgoals and one ridiculous fumble by a QB.

We would not have won a game last season with our O only scoring in the 20's like today. (not counting OT score). I saw improvement in the D today. Played as physical as Pitt. And if we got lucky to win, Pitt got lucky staying in the game with all TO's and screw ups TN did. So take that theory and shove it.

A "few more losses" is expected and IMO a certainty. I said 7 wins was expected and 8 would make me very happy. We're still miles away from where we want to be but we got a quality win on the road vs a ranked opponent. At this point, fans need to enjoy any and every win. We're not as good as folks were saying and we're not as bad as we appeared at times today. Limited roster can't be fixed in a year or two. Maybe after a couple more classes and being more active in the portal will help us get things turned around. Enjoy the win. Our kids fought hard.

I will take it too but App State and Marshall also had wins on the road vs ranked teams.
