When I started seeing the possible replacements for Dooley. went back and reevaluated the season. We really were only out of two ballgames, Florida and Alabama. Our offense is producing Peyton like numbers when he was here and he won like 39 games and lost 6, something like that. I know Dooley is the head coach but our defense is the worst I have ever seen in over 40 years of following the Vols. I just can't believe Vanderbilts Franklin (a possible replacement) is smarter than Dooley. If we can't get a proven better replacement in here I'd rather ride it out a little longer and get a defensive coach in here.

dude. c'mon man.

at some point, you have to realize that in this profession winners win and losers lose.

and there always seems to be a new reason why the losers lose.

dooley is a proven loser as a head coach. it's that simple.

dooley has stabilized nothing. he has built nothing. he has done nothing. all he has done is smear his loserdom all over the team and program. it's going to take more than proper shower technique to wash that stuff off too

As Head Coach you are responsible for EVERYTHING. If the defense fails then it ultimately falls on the head coach, when you have two timeout and have an offense that could no doubt give you a shot at points and you just let time expire, then it falls on the Head Coach.

Dooley is a good guy but he is not a good coach. I will think him for bringing back integrity to this program by being a class act and leading with class, but other than that he has done nothing to warrant being an SEC caliber coordinator much less an SEC head coach.

As any HC will state; whatever happens on or off the field no matter who or what side of the ball it is, it's Their Responsibility. Go watch the post game pressers with Dooley vs Saban....major, major difference in coach attitude and response

He hired Sal. Dooley sucks at everything, including game management. Palardy? Why has he not recruited a kicker?

I think it's funny as hell that some of these guys still try to defend this clown and the way he has sunk our football program. I would be ashamed to want this guy Coaching these kids another game!

He likes discussing football and we have one of the better organized forums out there that's free of charge. Also an outside opinion of the program is often more realistic than the fan base's, even if that opinion comes from a rival fan.

I will be one of the first to say Dooley needs to go, but you are going overboard here. Dooley stabilized a program that was a dumpster fire when Kiffin left and that was hemorraging talent due to his departure and his efforts (via Orgeron) to take players with him. He brought class and dignity (two things in short supply while Kiffin was here), which were important commodoties with the NCAA looking at our program after Kiffin. He improved the talent level from where it was when he arrived. The player discipline issues that were a major issue under prior regimes have gone down to nearly nothing other than the occasional jet-ski indiscretion or beer-bottle-throwing incident.

Though Derek Dooley has shown he can recruit classes that are ranked top 20 nationally, He has been consistently recruiting behind at least 6 or 7 other SEC classes nationally every year. When you compete in the best league in America, you simply must do better than that. Of all of his shortcomings, this one was the most glaring, that showed for me, at least, that he was not going to be competing for actual SEC championships anytime soon.

I hate to admit this but the Gator fan is 110% right.

Dooley just does not have what it takes to run a program like Tennessee.

While I agree with what you said, you forgot to mention that whiners whine... Dooley is a whiner, thus all his whining during post-game pressers.

HART!!! Get us a WINNER! GBO!!!

It only took 9 games for Dooley to give all of his attention to the D. As a result, all that came of it was one half of decent football. Now you throw some of those game management decisions on top of that.....you have got to be kidding.

(1) How do you know that Dooley hired Sal? I am more inclined to think that Hart did that and forced Dooley to accept it.

(2) Dooley has recruited a kicker and he is already on the team. Knoxville's own George Bullock.. Check the roster.
