-Toyota isn't there yet. they're also not far away. they know where they stack up now. it's only downhill from here.
-Gibbs has everybody beat at plate tracks. or their driver does.
-DJ must realize the difference between 70 and 200 lap races.
-after last year, Kyle Busch earned some respect tonight, and it came the way of the 20.
-Junior was at fault. props to him for stepping up.
-Kurt Busch is a damn fine plate racer. the gold car looks good too.
-Junior was there and gone in a few laps.
-Kenny Schrader will win a race this year (hey, we can hope right?).
-nothing we saw tonight will mirror next Sunday, except the Victory Lane celebration.
-when in doubt, take 4.
-NASCAR drivers aren't happy if they aren't complaining.
-who is Ryan Newman?

-Nobody helps JR on the plate races. He is out there by himself and you cant win like that.
-Ryan Newman has developed a David Duval disease.
-Kurt Busch is a crack head. He is going nowhere on plate races, just like Rusty
-It will take Toyota half the season or more just to figure out some bugs. They will not win a race this year.
-Tony will wreck at the 500. He will not win it. He kinda is like SR at Daytona. Something always happens to him.
-Ken Shrader?? Please
-DEI has lost its plate swagger, Yes. Gibbs leads it, No. I say all Chevys lead it but not just Gibbs.
-Complaining is good T.V. Therefore you will see tons of it.

You just went on to answer why Jr. doesn't win plate races anymore, the cars aren't as good as they once were. From 2001 through 2004 he didn't even need help.

He got help in all those races Tid. Now he gets none.

Why would they just completely fall off like that?

The fastest cars get the help, the 8 isn't one of the fastest cars now. There's no reason to follow a car that isn't going anywhere, he used to get help because he had the best car and others knew if they followed they would go to the front as well.

After watching him for almost ten years now, I have finally realized that Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans have a lot of similarities to Bammer fans. No I do not think the Earnhardt name means the same as it did. Even if Sr. were still racing it would not be like it was. Equipment is too good and there is a LOT of talent out there. I think if he gets the majority ownership it will crumble. No, no matter what happens, DALE EARNHARDT JR WILL NEVER WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP. NEVER. No matter how many delusional southern people paint their houses to match his car, or how many times MTV, CMT, or whoever does some docudrama about him, he still does not have what it takes!!! Never has NEVER WILL.

I will hang up and let the bashing begin.

I am a huge Earnhardt fan. You are probably right about what you say. We SR fans want JR to be his daddy, but it aint gonna happen. Will he ever win a championship, probably not. But neither did Mark Martin and he is one the the greatest. It is possible thought that put in the right situation, JR could win one. I dont think it will happen at DEI though.

And to comment on you TID. I think he is one of the fastest cars. Whether you think so or not. I just think that since his teammates cant stay with him, the other drivers do not help him b/c they know they will lose if they do.

You haven't watched the plate races the last two years if you think he's one of the fastest cars at Daytona or Talladega. The car hasn't qualified nor raced all that well except for Talladega last Fall, which provides some hope for the 500 next week. Just gotta hope the car can handle well, since that's not a big deal at Talladega, especially after they repaved it. Not having competent teammates doesn't help matters either. I hate to call Waltrip a "competent teammate", but he was at leasta decent plate racer/drafter.

JR has never been a good qualifier. And he almost won Talladega last year. But had no help at the end. Then got wrecked of course. Before that he had wrecked a couple times in a row at Dega. Last years 500 he was at the front until the end and at the Daytona Night race he did have a slow car. I think he has been pretty fast.

See, even allegedly without any help last year at Talladega he was still in position to win, because the car was great. Prior to that he hadn't had a great car at the plate races since 2004. Sure, he ran up front in most of them, but didn't dominate like he had previously.

True. But it is almost impossible to dominate them. He had a few years that he did, now everyone has caught up to him. But he is still near the front as far as speed goes.

Damn you dont give up Tid. I thought you were a JR fan. :glare:

Well he and Bobby are next to each other, maybe they can help each other out.
They'll be starting right with each other in the first qualifying race on Thursday, so hopefully they can help improve each other's starting position for the main event.

Comparing Dale Jr. fans to Bammer fans is going a little too far. Most Dale Jr. fans that I know have never expected him to be as great as his father was. There are some that think he can be as great as his dad, but they are in denial. I don't see anyone getting as many championships as Richard Petty and Dale Sr. I don't know how you can say that he will never win a Cup championship when you cannot see into the future. He is not getting the best equipment and enough funding for his cars. This is the reason that he wants more control of the company. Dale Jr. has been a champion before and he will be one again. He DOES have what it takes!

I agree with this. I noticed that Harvick tried to help him for a little while, but then started helping someone else. When Harvick was in the lead, Dale Jr. had several chances to push Harvick and they could have both left everyone, but Dale Jr. couldn't catch up to him to help him before everyone else came up behind them and started passing them. The DEI cars are not the best at the plate tracks anymore. A lot of other teams have caught up with them or passed them and are better.

the problem with Dale is he likes to run high, and that line isn't always there. i noticed the high line was working pretty well at the start of runs last night. the longer the run lasted though, the more it went away. it's just so hard to run up high without a strong car pushing you and one yourself.

1.David Gilliland will be competitive. Pick him to win at least 2 Cup races.:eek:k:
2. Here are at least two solids for the top 10 this season: "Smoke" and Jimmie Johnson.
3. Can Dale Jr compete this season and make the cut for the CHASE?
4. How will the Busch brothers fare?
5. Who will be the surprise driver of the season and make the CHASE as Denny Hamlin did in 2006?
6. Will any of the Toyota drivers make the CHASE?
7. How will the Hendrick team fare this season?

I say the number one thing will be the whole DEI situation. If JR leaves, they are done.

I agree about Gilliland, he could be special.

Screw the Busch brothers. Toyota will suck.

Doesnt Dodge really need to be strong this year to survive??

Bingo. I also honestly believe that he is concerned about the future of the company that his father started and that it's not just that he wants to own the company with his name on it. I was watching some show that was talking about how JR Motorsports (which from the outside looks like a 4 or 5 car garage, by the way) had a piece of equipment that TEI DID NOT have and that Jr. took one of his Cup cars to HIS shop to test some stuff on the car. That's mind boggling.

Yeah, is that even allowed by NASCAR?

1. I have a feeling we will only hear Gilliland's name on Fridays, unless Yates has pulled a dramatic turn-around from the last couple years.

2. Definitely.

3. Unless the wheels fall off, literally and figuratively, yes.

4. Just fine.

5. Casey Mears better make it.

6. No.

7. Swimmingly.
