I called it the moment Johnson redshirted due to injury , I knew they would get this approval and it is sad because if that is the case no one should have to sit out

Str8 crap! If this is the case she should lose a year of eligibility! She didn’t sit out anytime! At least cooper sat out a year due to injury and I still think the rules are the rules. Azurá Stevens sat out last year for UCONN , SC had girls that sat out because of transfer... this is just stupid Do work Russell and Green take her to the post and power THROUGH HER! This actually ticks me off that This went thru. NCAA you are a complete and utter JOKE! This girl didn’t transfer because of a family illness or anything happened she didn’t like the new coaching staff or her HOMESTATE university! I don’t care who got hurt they have able bodies that could have fielded a top 10 team and had subs come off the bench! I don’t understand the rationale and for that yes T’ea Cooper needs to be cleared. I don’t believe in rewarding poor behavior but you opened a door hard to shut now! Maybe a team should have an immidiate transfer waiver for a player that they can use every couple of years! I dunno this is just dumb. Hope she stands on the 3pt line like she has been known to do... 😡

I would love to see ND's appeal notes and explanation of their reasoning because for the NCAA to allow this ... it just isn't sitting right with me. Hopefully their will be a report out that will be public that can shed light on this so rumors can be put to rest.

I'm admitting I don't have the details, but that was my first thought too - How is this different than Azura Stevens? They both left because they were unhappy (to my understanding, due to coaching)

She just wanted to win basically! So you reward her with being able to play right away?!?

Like Raoul said in his tweets how do you rightfully justify this?!? McGraw did what she was supposed to as a coach and she got her way! Ah well... maybe a cancelled game last min will send the NCAA a message... not just us but UConn too! Not that either school will be scared to play them but send a message that... hey get your $#!+ together ! The Mompremier should be able to play at Miami then right ? She wanted to be closer to home to be with family and get more playing time. So hey Katie Meier put in a waiver for her. You’re also in the ACC !!

Exactly, it's like certain schools get passes while others don't and the moment it was announced that Mychael Johnson suffered and ACL injury (mysteriously) as Muffet was applying for Sheppard to play I know the only having 8 bodies and ND being somewhat royalty in college athletics that Muffet would get her wish and it isn't fair, all transfers should be allowed to play this season and moving forward.

Slocum transferred from Maryland to be closer to home she should be allowed to play as well as Montpremier as you stated, and players right now who view a better situation should be allowed to leave now and be eligible in January since no season games have been played yet if this is the road the NCAA is going down.

Ummm, y'all don't act like this uncommon or special treatment. She got the waiver because the coach Shepard signed and played for at Nebraska resigned amid a lot of controversy around her treatment of players. The NCAA almost always grants the waiver in cases like that. This is not at all uncommon. Te'a's or Azura Steven's stories are completely different.

Wrong.
If this was the case, then Notre Dame would of appealed immediately when she transferred back in June!

The decision to redshirt Turner was made at the end of August ... and that was when they submitted paperwork for the waiver. They had NO intention of appealing Shepard until the Turner decision.

Why do you care so much? It's not our team.

Well why do you care that I care that I care about the care care?

This is a blog to share information and views. This subject
of transferring is global to women's college basketball, as well as an ever increasing problem every year. Most insightful basketball analyst are looking at this with raised eyebrows because of the circumstances behind this.
This decision could possibly have gradual/long-term effects to women's basketball. I understand the coaching situation at Nebraska, but this timeline doesn't support that claim.

So the mistreatment of players should take a backseat to players who chose to stay and play for a new coach? Then be rewarded because she wanted to go to a better team? Azura left because of treatment at Duke and a better chance at a national title...

ok I’m going to give you one better! Stephanie Mavungua left UNC because of the damaging charges being brought up against the university and the fact that her being an athlete and graduating from there could have damaged future employment opportunities. Now, she had to sit out a year to play at OSU... does something seem off to you? Gray left because of the academic scandal and had to sit out and the same with DD and Jessica Washington. All had to sit out regardless. The three girls that left UK left because of the toxic environment provided by the head coach and he admitted that things were toxic yet they had to sit out!

But a player leaves because she wants to win?!? Something seems off and people probably care because right is right and decisions before have been shot down for better reasons than the ones given by Shepard herself. Other than that I don’t give a flip.

I get what you're saying about those other players, but did they petition to be immediately eligible? Just saying it's been done before, and we don't know the reasoning and probably never will. It won't be reversed. There have been more head scratching waivers granted than this one, imo.

I'm all for letting transfers play immediately if they have a valid argument for the waiver. I don't care that she played for the new coach. We don't know what was behind the decision. My whole point is that we can't just say it's not fair when we don't know what happened or why the timing is what it was. The NCAA obviously felt that she didn't deserve to have to sit for some reason. I don't know why.

I wonder if it has something to do with the type of mistreatment she endured. It was interesting that there were no details given.

Uhmm i thought Katherine Westbeld was injured and nit going to be able to start the season leaving ND with ONLY 8 bodies 6 of which were McD All Americans... 🤔 so they have 9 healthy scholarship players it seems. Interesting to say the least! Ah well! Lookin at their roster they’ll be good next year but young after that they will lose 5McD all Americans who will graduate between this year and next.

We had a thread in the summer on a trivial violation committed by the LVs and the wording of the NCAA staffer's report should have been an embarrassment to have been known as the author.

And the NCAA staff responded to the men's scandal at Louisville and five other universities with "surprise." With a broad smile VA VOLFAN your are using logic and actual examples of similar situations with other players as if that should be sufficient. and response was "the NCAA almost always . I submit that the NCAA does not almost always do!

Tough break for the young lady.

Makes me nervous for UT to only have 10 players this year, with only 8 that will probably see much playing time. Would be nice if we had 12 players next year.

I am nervous, however, in the past, there have been teams with short benches that have done well. Two years ago Kentucky played with a short bench and played very well. I believe that Genno won a National title with a short bench. The key is playing fairly injury free, especially with your major contributors.

I am more concerned, but not in a major way, with the learning curve of our super freshmen. Though it was a practice game, they looked pretty good Tuesday night.

Cheridene Green will help A LOT. She will rebound, defend and attack offensively. Reports out of practice and from Holly are that she has the ability to defend multiple positions like Anosike did and could be our best defender as the season goes along.

As a matter of fact Geno made the final 4 last year with a bench of 10, including 3 freshmen, a walk-on, and 2 seniors, one of which was the walk-on. If he can do it, why not UT?
