the speech yesterday talking about how we haven't been responsible in our economic decision making and the shared burden of making amends didn't sound good at all.bet those union members in the rust belt are happy now. frankly, his positions on this do not bother me at all but I think it's going to be hell when we see the tax policy.

I thought most conservatives supported granting same sex couples benefits and legal rights as long as the couples are not able to be recognized as "married." Was under the impression Obama was compromising on the issue, am I wrong on that?
you need listen againI heard neither "shared burden" nor "amends" coming out of that. I heard it as economic plight the fault of greedy folks at the top, people irresponsibly borrowing way more than they could afford, lack of oversight. And that the result is that we are all in a situation where its going to be all hands on deck to deal with it.

I'm serious, listen again. He clearly said we're about to share in the pain. I'm all for giving the guy a chance. In fact, I have no option. We were talking about what the guy said and what his first move was in the job.Or maybe folks should stop reading between the lines and/or simply assuming that he is up to no good because they figure down the line he will be.
I hear all these Republicans on the talk shows saying they are willing to give him a chance and hope he succeeds. Almost always followed with the party line on how he's going to screw everything up.
Not surprised, that's politics. Democrats said the same thing about Bush, that they were hoping he would do well but plotting from the beginning to undermine everything he did.

I'm not at all saying he's going to screw anything up. I was agreeing with VHB's concerns about the new tax plan.

I don't think anyone realizes how hard reparations would be to prove and distribute. It would be pure chaos. Although Chappelle made it seem really funny
