NRA Wants Suspected Terrorist Gun Ban Withdrawn

i'd be willing to be that everone on this board could give at least one exception to the rule as to why this legislation should be passed.

but is that what we've come down to? managing by the exceptions?

whatever happened to the "majority rules"?

that's one of the biggest problems i see right now, and it is the same symptom of any issue......someone or several someones present enough "exceptions" as to why something should not be passed, regardless of the common sense factor, and it dies a brutal death.

when all else fails, common sense tells me that a suspsected terrorist should not be allowed to buy a gun in this country.

You don't have to be an American citizen to buy a gun. Most terrorist suspects are not American citizens.

That would go a long way
we seem to be short on it as a nation.

btw did anyone hear about the terrorist plot foiled about the guys wanting to go to Ft. Dix and kill US Soldiers with automatic weapons.......i wonder if they purchased the guns at Walmart.........right now they could've legally.......:whistling:

Really? You can purchase automatic weapons at Wal Mart? You might want to check that again...

Does it matter the level? We were told that if we fight them over there we wouldn't fight them over here. It seems they are already over here. So there goes that argument out the window.

that's right.......forgive me. my point is completely meaningless. we all know how difficult it is to get semi automatic and automatic weapons in this country.

So what is your point then? Clarify. You want it to be illegal for people you disagree with or have suspicions about to attain weapons? If so, why? You just stated above that it is easy to gain access to illegal weapons, so why is it so important to make it illegal for suspected terrorists to buy weapons?

it's real simple......if you are on the terrorist watch list, you shouldn't be able to buy a gun.

as for the rest, that's a whole nother debate about the effectiveness of gun laws in this country. which they are not.

Yes, because we all know a terrorist would never want to break the law, therefore make it illegal for them to buy guns. Problem solved.

Also, who makes these "lists" and who determines how you get on one?

ah, the old, "it'll never work anyway, so don't do it" arguement. priceless.

and again, to the rest, a completely separate issue.

And your argument is? "American citizen I suspect you of having bad intentions, therefore you can not have the rights of every other law abiding citizen. Even though you have not been charged or convicted of anything." Or you can phrase it better?
