so what you are saying is we should torpedo the economy on principle? let's teach those guys a lesson! right? who is being taught the lesson exactly? the new people taking over sure as hell weren't taught it. so what does this accomplish besides making YOU feel good? all this is is envy. plain and simple. the american people were pissed there were people making a lot more money they they were doing things they don't understand. this is why we didn't see nearly the same uproar over bailing out the autos despite the fact that there was little systematic risk and it's likely we never see the money again.

Rubbish. How many debates on this forum have we had espousing the virtues of free market capitalism, self-responsibility, and the power such virtues have on the american economic might? Such arguments seemed to have flown right out the door when those at the top aren't having their interests served.

This is not even close to being about envy, it is about the hypocrisy of those in corporate america pimping these ideas when it serves their interest, and throwing them out the window because it "isn't fair" when it doesn't work and people innocent of doing anything wrong might lose their job because of the industry they work in. Anybody that derails Obama as a socialists and at the same time advocates this TARP program needs to STFU.

I still am, and always will be a free market advocate. I think welfare should be cut to those that abuse the system, and I wholeheartedly disagree with the auto bailout. But I am playing that same game no matter the circumstances. This is corporate welfare, and instead of abusing the system by taking advantage of government housing or having more kids, these institutions abuse the system by throwing money at lobbyists and by campaign contributions. It is exactly the things like this TARP garbage and the reasoning behind its justification that all the free market and neo-capitalist conveniently overlook when they make their points on other similar issues.

I could give a s- about how much money these people made or loss during and after this thing. It's capitalism. It's how the game is played. And you think it should be different for the ones at the top of this food chain. This is nothing more than hypocrisy at its worst.

It's the Democratic way isn't it rjd? Same old crap...give me give me give me and save that poor minnow so hundreds of thousands will starve. I'm sick of hearing people try to defend that jack@! This country was founded by entrepreneurs. When they failed, they failed...there was nobody there to bail their @sses out then and there shouldn't be anybody to bail them out now.
