Late word is Obama invited Bush to ceremony at Ground Zero Thursday, Bush declined.

Kudos to both.

Obama with 2 decisions in the W column this week for me.

Bush taking the high road by staying out. Wouldn't have a problem with him attending, he did play a part in the recent events. But a classy move to remain in the back

This is all becoming more of an act to me. There was a great meaning behind all of this, but now it's time for it to become a misconstrued political game.

Why even publicize the invite in the first place?? It's not like Bush really needs Obama's permission to show up. It's an act that can be very easily overblown politically, and will be.

President Bush has said multiple times that he doesn't want to turn into Carter. He is making the wise choice.

And overblown by haters. They are in the business of politics, they strategically do things to win people over to get votes. That's what they do. I'm pretty sure that if Obamas presidentcy was before GB he would invite him and the haters would female dog and moan that Obama didn't have anything to do with the operation he should not be there. But I think GB is classy enough to invite him

Again, why does a president need to invite any former president to anything?? I still don't see the point of the Obama admin extending a hand to Bush. Honestly, it looks bad on Obama, because it makes it look like he's trying to make sure he gets as much credit as possible. He should just enjoy his 10 point approval rating increase, because the country is about to hit another recession soon, if gas prices don't go down soon.

I honestly think it's for the good. But haters are gonna hate. Good day sir

EPIC FAIL. Like others have said, haters gonna hate.
To paraphrase Beecher, Obama has 2 decisions in the win column this week. Bush has been all class since leaving office, and I would have no problem with him attending the ceremony. I think he earned that right (and I disliked Bush very much and am no cheerleader for Obama).

I will give you the italicized part. All one has to do is recall the post Desert Storm Presidency of GHW Bush. After record approval ratings following the war, he forgot that "it's the economy, stupid." All positives from the bin Laden mission will be in danger of being forgotten if gas continues to skyrocket causing a double dip recession.

People in this nation can't can't even come together and celebrate the mission to kill public enemy #1 without bringing silly partisanship into it. Welcome to The United Two Political Parties of America. Washington was so right about the evils of political parties.

As bad as Bush the second was and yes he was bad, i can't blame him from distancing himself from a guy that has been so far ten times worse than him. Obama needs to enjoy his moment because the reality of a sluggish economy, rising debt and gas prices that are going through the roof. Man needs to get to work and that's about it, fix it or get out.

It was right to invite him, and declining was reasonable, too.

I respect both decisions immensely.

There are times where as Dave Ramsey says, "people need to get their head out of their politics."

Obama's invite is protocol and political, imo. I have a hard time giving him Kudos on something that is not above and beyond.

I see OBL death as a shared win so it was appropriate to invite him and I, for one would like to have seen him attend but understand his decision....he clearly would rather be in Texas and no longer, if he ever did, wants to be in the public eye.
