As a matter of fact, Erdogan (described by Obama as a close personal friend) the PM of Turkey who advocates for a revived Ottoman Empire, recently stated he would have no problem with being aligned with Iran and having a Shiite rather than Sunni caliph to be in overall charge of the world of islam.
