Special Michelle Hawaii Flight Would Cost Thousands

President Obama’s decision to send Michelle and his daughters to Hawaii ahead of him if he is delayed by a fight with Congress could cost taxpayers tens of thousands of extra dollars to fund two separate vacation flights and related costs. The move would also violate the intent of an executive order he issued just last month urging federal employees to cut back on expenses like travel.

Special Michelle Hawaii Flight Would Cost Thousands | The Blog on Obama: White House Dossier...

But, but, but,.....Newt flies first class to his PRIVATELY FUNDED speaking engagements...

She can’t cool her heels at the White House?

Obama has enjoyed the trips at our expense for far too long.

Did he ever got to Hawaii for Christmas before he was President? Inquiring minds want to know.

I would happily have the American people pay $50 million to send Obama on vacation for the rest of his term.

I don't understand b****ing about a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of extra spending given the unprecedented debt his administration has accumulated since taking office. In the grand scheme of things, a couple hundred thousand dollars is chump change.

I guess Michelle wants to be the head honcho on the plane. Giving orders and having everyone kiss her a$$ instead of kissing Obama’s.

"""Sending Michelle to Hawaii ahead of him this year would provide the first lady a convenience"""

Guess that's all that matters. Not the cost!

a billion here, a billion there, sooner or later you're talking about real money

He would be the President who has to basically fly half way around the world to go home for the holidays.

It's just ... fitting.

Not talking about billions and all presidents go on vacations which are inevitably expensive to the taxpayer. There are many legitimate grievances about this administration; however this isn't one of them.

It is when the country is going down the crapper and you send out a memo telling people to cut back.

Leaders that fiddle when the country burns or tells them to eat cake while they are eating steak normally are the kind of leaders who people remember for a very long time because they sucked.

Confused by thread title, the original post, and the article.

The title seems to suggest that this travel would violate an earlier executive order.

The original post says it might violate the spirit or intent of the order.

And then the linked article cites to language about using teleconferencing and what not to avoid government travel, which seems to have no relationship to the issue at hand.

All in all, crap thread. No stars.

Seeing as he has a lot of family in Hawaii, I'd say the chances are pretty fat.

Again, you fail at attacking an issue that's easily dismantled.

afaik, the only family he had in Hawaii were his grandparents and Frank Marshall Davis.

It's the same kind of crap that gets Warren Harding dismissed as a bad president. The big picture was GREAT during the Harding administration, but a little scandal that cost Americans next to nothing has him pegged in the "horrible presidents" category.

I meant to respond in another thread, but wasn't Harding sworn into the Klan in the Oval Office? Or am I thinking of someone else?

actually, this is a legitimate gripe. Michelle doesn't just travel in coach with the rest of the proletariat. Her entourage is almost as large as POTUS's.

It's the image of wretched excess that's the true problem.

Bush was torn to shreds over his vacations to his Crawford ranch, but has anyone bothered to compare the costs?

The obvious decadence is legitimate. However, griping about him going to the country where he lived for a good while is silly.

You're just giving this dude further validation to make more threads, but whatever.

I've never heard of that. I know Wilson was a big racist, and he's from the same era. Even if Harding was a racist, it didn't really effect whether or not he had a successful administration. So he may not be somebody to admire (if KKK charges are true), but he's definitely somebody from whom we can learn.

Don't go out to dinner.

I'm talking to you ... the nation.

Not myself or my buddies of course.

We're gonna run this mother*****ing gravytrain as long as we can.
