Always there to defend the rich black man. Politician is a politician.

I'm sure you've misread his intent. I thought LG was simply giving a thumbs up to the thread. :good!:

Just agreeing with earlier posts that presidents tend to like photo ops.

And in the case of the one I posted, it was not .... accurate.

I'm not butt hurt at all and not sure why you would think that. My personal opinion, to which you are certainly free to disagree, is that Obama (or his campaign staff) is trying too hard to appeal to black voters and ultimately that may cost him votes. First he makes a "questionable" statement about the Trayvon Martin case, and then he allows for this photograph to be tagged and marketed. Imo this would be the equivalent of Romney having his picture taken in a private jet... it may be innocent enough, but it also isn't the right message his campaign should be sending out. I guess the real question is (as perhaps you've stated in your post above)... is Obama possibly worried about losing a significant part of the black vote?

In terms of pandering, I completely agree with huff's comment below (as well as yours concerning Bush but to a slightly less extent)... politicians need to be careful with photo ops because sometimes they do more harm than good.

What message? That Rosa Parks was a significant figure in the Civil Rights movement? That the event was a big part in moving out of a segregated society? You're reaching, big time. No boogeyman here to see. If Romney was President, He would do the same.

Short of Obama doing interviews in a white pointy hat that covers his face or burning crosses on the South Lawn, he's getting the majority of the black vote.

I'm sure that's what it was. It was purely coincidental that someone had a camera and took a few pictures, and then decided to turn them over to MSNBC.

All politicians, for the most part, look for photo op moments to appeal to their base or to craft a subtle message they want distributed. I just thought this was taking pandering to a whole new level.

No, that was done 2003.

Are you just in a bad mood today or something? The majority recognize this event as a blatant photo op, and I've previously stated that many politicians do it. Not sure how that is "reaching, big time". If Obama truly wanted to reflect on an important moment in history he should have done so privately and not had his administration tweet this picture out to the media.

Not at all. I'm in a great mood, actually. Just think you are letting your dislike influence the situation too much. The majority of the posts, so far, seem to see the "outrageous" photo as much ado about nothing. Like I said earlier, there's plenty of legit complaints to be made about Obama without reading too much into a photo aimed at a group that he has on lockdown.

He sat on the bus Rosa Parks sat on, so what?!?!?!?

I agree with both comments. So why did his staff tweet the picture to the media?

Why shouldn't they? Sitting President of the US. People like pictures.

Why this picture?

I took an existing headline "Obama sits inside Rosa Parks bus" and posted that title and the picture that was included under the headline in VN and people seem to be accusing me of trying to make this news?

I agree with Grizz... so what?!?!? There wasn't any news. It was a photo op plain and simple, which was my original point.

He is the POTUS.

The only time time photos are not made is when he sleeps or takes a crap. Members of the media with take pics of that if they could get in his bedroom and bathroom.

Geez it is pic of the president, it is nother an issue

Sorry, didn't mean to come across as accusatory. And, every moment, movement, etc. is a photo op anymore.

This makes me proud as hell of how far our country has come from the shameful past of segregation! Notice how he didn't sit in the front seat? Could be more than just a photo op, and is perhaps a statement that we still have a ways to go in race relations in America...
