Just as I have at least entertained the idea that a colossally horrible losing season might be in the long term best interest of the Vols' football program, since it seems that that may be the only way to get rid of Fulmer, so must the Obama supporters now face the delima of having to hope for continuing economic woes and all of the pain that that entails for average working families, as well as hope for a continued quagmire in Iraq and the attendant body count in US lives that comes with that state of affairs in order to have any hope of their guy getting elected.

Hate it for you.

Or..........they could be lucky enough to run against John McCain. :)

I have a feeling the Dems (Howard Dean) are ready to use Karl Rove like tactics this season on John McCain. They have been on the receiving end the last two terms and McCain is about to get the old swift boat treatment.

....and Obama's very likely to get a free pass on the emptiness of his suit, his acquaintances and his wife.

A lot of people are saying this, I don't buy it.

McCain would much rather face Obama than Hillary. The black and young vote is going to go dem no matter who their candidate is. The most Obama can claim is that perhaps he is drawing bigger numbers of them. That being said he will completely turn off a lot of independents and moderates. Also, in terms of playing dirty, if any reps have more dirt on Obama I'd say they are waiting to spill it until after he has the official nomination. They want him getting the nomination, not Hillary.

McCain turns my stomach but it is the lesser of 2 evils scenario again. I want Obama to get the D nomination because I think he is much more beatable than Hillary. Part of me even thinks McCain might win in a landslide.

After 8 years of GWB's interpretation and implementation of GOP doctrine...consideriing gas and food prices, the Iraq occupation, and many other considerations I'd consider a McCain victory a certain sign we've actually all died and are in hell...we just don't know it.:eek:lol:

But Hillary is more liberal, why would she not turn the moderates and independents off?

I suppose the Regan supporters were the same in 80 hoping the bad economy remains and that the hostages stay in Tehran as long as it takes to get Ronnie in office. You do concur with this thinking or was it different back in 80.

I'm not sure it even mattered who the GOP ran against Carter by the time 1980 rolled around.

that economy and the current one are very comparable. good point.

the hostages could have come home 2 days before the election with jillions of dollars in each pocket and Carter was finished.

What makes Hillary more liberal? And besides, it is about perception even if perception is not always accurate. Your left leaning independent uneducated whites are a little shaky about Obama and his religion and views of the commoners.

I was only 8 at the time, so I won't claim to know exactly what was going on, but from what I have read, Carter was the result of a Watergate hangover and a GOP that was divided between Ford and Reagan.

I was reading from Obama's official website the other day about his plans for education. Evidently, our problems with k-12 are because we aren't getting to the kids early enough. So Genius wants to spend more money on the government being involved with 0-5 year olds. Wonderful idea. Except that it is not.

are you out of your mind? the government has proven incredibly efficient in educating America's children. Let's create a new agency, unionize the educators and appoint a czar. Recipe for absolute success.
