Presidents are never truly on vacation. The office moves with them.

However, I think it is very poor taste and says alot about his arrogance to go somewhere like Martha's Vineyard... at incredible expense.... while reviling the "rich" for not doing enough to help the poor.

Most of Bush's time was spent at HIS ranch.

Who cares if he goes on a vacation? The guy has the most stressful job on the planet and it never ends, but he gets bashed for taking a 10 day "vacation" (1/2 of which will be spent in meeting rooms). Sounds like you guys needs to get off his nuts. No one complained when Bush went cow wranglin' in the middle of huge recession, so why start now?

I know this info is hard for people like GS to understand, because his job only involves googling, copying and pasting, and being angry at the "liberal-socialist administration" who's out to get him. So continue copying and pasting away GS, while the rest of us go to work and try to help keep this scary liberal country running.

again, it's not that POTUS is on vacation, it's where he goes. Martha's Vineyard, the Hamptons, Hawaii, and so on. Expensive places to travel compounded by the massive entourage that always follows the President.

He has a 2 million dollar house near Chicago, he has Camp David, he has his aunt's rent-controlled tenement in Boston. When he starts acting with some humility, the criticism will stop.

70 days vacation to expensive places probably costs the same or less than 250 days regular vacation.

You kidding me? He's the mothereffing President for Christ's sake.. where do you want him to go? A Motel 8 in Pigeon Forge? You don't think Bush went to nice places? This may be the dumbest thing I've ever read.. we've gotten to the point where Republicans are criticizing WHERE the President vacations! Haha

hey, douchebag jr., Bush almost always vacationed at his Crawford, TX ranch. Sometimes he went to Camp David, other times he went to his parents' place in Maine.

so, yes, it would behoove your hero to study the definition of "humble" instead of traipsing about the country in million-dollar buses, taking two separate planes to Massachusetts all the while claiming that every waking moment he is consumed with getting Americans back to work and he intends to reveal his plan for doing just that next month.

I cannot see how anyone can defend this man any longer. How much more will it take? I do not care about the man taking a vacation, its the timing and the selection of the spot as well as the fact he takes two jets at 100k a pop, all on our dime. While the economy implodes he's content to just lay back and do nothing.
Personally, I think he knows his time in office is coming to a close, so he better live it up while he can.

Everyone deserves time off. It is not like he can't do just about anything from a golf course that he can do from his office. Technology is wonderful.

My only complaint is that when any president takes a vacation, they should have to pay for anything like anyone else. That means if you feel the need to take your entire entourage of flappers and security guards with you, then you foot the bill for it. I think the pres should also pay for any time on AF1 that is campaign/personal related. I shouldn't foot the bill for any of that.
