even more so, back then I would think.

Yea, see, I don't know. I'm not sure if he got a Masters before pursuing a PhD, or even if that step was common.

Kind of like how Andrew Jackson got a law degree the California way; by under studying rather than attending law school.

Normal progression these days is Bach->Masters->PhD, with the exception of a few programs.

Since I don't know if Wilson got his via that progression, or even if his dissertation was peer reviewed, I can't really comment on PhD vs Masters back then.

If anyone is wondering what I mean by the California to JD, see the "How to Become an Attorney Without Law School" Blog.

unless his grades were horrible (certainly possible) i wouldn't be suprised if he got a decent number of job offers. minority hiring is always a big priority.

Unrelated, just reminded me...

I've got a good buddy who graduated fairly highly in his class with a degree in applied mathematics from UDub, he's a white guy that happens to be named Tyrone. He applied for some lofty jobs right out of the gate without disclosing his ethnicity and got called back for all of them.

Cheno-Amaranthaceae.

Grass pollen is a mostly smooth sphere with one large pore with a raised rim around it. Very distinctive.

Looks like the death star.

The thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is that barry has put all his academic records, from kindergarten on, off limits to any sort of scrutiny, which is unprecedented in the history of America.

Another red flag is that both barry and moochelle aren't still licensed to practice law in Illinois, wassup with that??

Why not?????????????

Actually, it was GW Bush. He is the only president ever to hold an MBA. He is not a great soeaker like Obama but he does have the highest education.

an MBA is just a masters degree. Its not higher than a JD held by seven presidents or the doctorate held by Wilson.

There was only one doctorate, Wilson, as you noted. Most of the others you seem to credit with JD's were not JD's but were LLB's.

LOL

You can't become editor of Harvard Law Review without having a stellar academic record. They don't give that position to C students.

That being said, as a matter of fact, doesn't necessarily make him qualified to be POTUS

Was he really editor or is that just an urban myth??

If, and that's a big if, he was editor, then he would be the only editor that never had an article published.

Furthermore, when it comes to writing, his autobiographical books were most likely ghost written and the writer was more than likely William Ayers, the communist terrorist that should be in prison serving time for murder rather than being held in high esteem at a well respected academic institution.

You do know I was talking about Woodrow Wilson, right?

Although, nice work on bringing the topic back to your original purpose.

And, I don't think it is unprecedented. I can't find Washington or J Adam's Kindergarten grades (I bet they had secret private teachers from another country... probably even England *gasp*)

you can't seriously be comparing the difficulty of getting grades from colleges in the 1700s to today? remember many argued kerry was a genius, until it turned out his grades were worse than bush.

You're right. Ford, Clinton, Obama were the only ones with JDs. Still the point remains an MBA is really not all that impressive.

I was being facetious. I felt the *gasp* made that apparent.

Also, I don't think there was a kindergarten in the 1700s. That should have also shown you the path.

I was wrong, apparently. I apologize. I shall endeavor to keep my posts to the facts and nothing but the facts, no opinions.

I ask that everyone else also do the same. (That was also me being facetious)

W. at least put his degree to work in the real world. Obama has either been a street agitator for ACORN, a politician, or an academic. None of which inspire any confidence in his ability.

We should just have a standardized Presidential exam. Grades are not everything. (Facetious, because that would be unconstitutional, yes, I know...)

As far as grades go, though:

Was there a curve? Did they take the same classes? Did they have the same professors? Were the exact same people in every single one of their courses?

Yes, they went to the same school. Great. All courses are not created equal. All courses in the same major on the same campus are not created equal.

If there was a curve, was it evenly distributed, or did one person have an advantage over another due to more lower scoring individuals in one class vs another?

If you take a Biology course with 8 gunners and 12 slackers and get a B, is that better than the person who took the same course, with a different professor, but there were only 4 gunners and 8 slackers? The curve, if present, would be different.

Grades, what a joke. This is why professional schools require standardized tests. This is why residency placement for medical students is more dependent on board scores (well... Step I at least) than grades.

Grades are useless indicators of intelligence. If I take Golf, Jogging, Biochemistry and English Comp, and get a 4.0, am I smarter than a student who takes Biochemistry, Animal Physiology, Genetics and Evolution, but only gets a 3.7?

Doubtful.

Facetious.
You keep using that word.....

inconceivable_do_not_think.jpg

Facetious: Treating serious issues with deliberately inappropriate humor; flippant

Flippant: Not showing a serious or respectful attitude.

Do you think the issues we are discussing are serious? Some people do.

Was I treating it serious by suggesting that I can't find grades from our founding fathers? No

Was I being humorous? In my mind, yes. And, humor, like beauty, can often be in the eye of the beholder.

So, yea... I think I got this word down, thanks.

Ah, I see clearly now. My mistake. It is an epic pic, but I must confess that I do not know the reference. What is it from?
