Obama's Budget

The taxes, to me, isn't the issue. The issue is the laughable 1.33T deficit proposed.

Tax the rich as we spiral toward insolvency. It'll get us nowhere, but at least it'll make society seem more equitable.

He supports making the Bush cuts permanent except for the top two rates. He also supports eliminating the estate tax and proposes at least in this budget that there be an increase in the $1 million exemption and a dramatic lowering of the rate.

If it weren't for an election year, these would be GOP ideas.

Is that criticism or praise? No matter what the year is, or who the originator of the ideas are, these measures will get us nowhere.

I'm just saying that its not like the taxation approach is entirely one sided.

the old "my life sucks, so everybody's life should suck" tax policy

I freely admit that I am not an expert, but it seems like he is trying to relieve some tax burden on the middle class while addressing the deficit.

Right, wrong, or indifferent...his intentions are in the right spot. I'm not sure it has anything to do with punishing the "rich".

Well I'm glad there's that.

I agree he is addressing the deficit, and while he may be going in the right "direction", what he's saying is that it doesn't matter that much.

I'll be impressed with efforts to tackle the deficit when a politics has the cojones to propose a 10% cut across the board.

I think Obama has a better chance in the general if the GOP focuses on his tax policy and not the 1.33T number. The deficit is the joke.

If you want to know his intentions, look at what he has declared them to be. Namely taxing those who are successful and giving it to those who are not - because it just isn't fair that some have so much more than others.
