BBC NEWS | Africa | US crew seized by Somali pirates

remember when China hit our spy plane and we had to land in china. remember when the mainstream media kept asking if Bush was up to the task.

here is hussein's 1st international task. i wonder if the media will question if the messiah can manage this?

amazing how history repeats itself.

This isn't going to turn into an international incident anywhere near those proportions. The company that owns the ship will pay the ransom as has been done in every other case. The story will end there.

I will be impressed with Obama if he actually does something about this problem that has faced the international community for some time. The international community needs to do something about this, perhaps sending patrol ships to the area and make a few examples out of these pirates? I don't know what the answer would be.

Sounds good to me.

whether it's an international incident or not, Americans will see what he'll do.

actually, all he needs to do is go on tv and tell how these men should not worked for an evil company that pollutes the ocean with their ships. :p

The president will stay out of the middle of this mess. I don't fault him for that. The minute he comments and gets involved the price of the ransom will go up and then he'll have a time bomb ticking in the corner. The shipping companies will pool together money and pay for the crew to be released as has been done numerous times now.

That doesn't mean i think nothing should be done but this is not the time for Obama to propose any action. When the crew is safe then he should appeal to the international community for cooperation in helping stop the pirate activity off the coast of Somalia and Yemen.

He'll pay the dhimmi tax and regurgitate the despicable language inserted into the treaty after the first Barbary pirate war. Good thing we came back a few years later and kicked their asses so bad they left us alone for 200 years.

This all dates back to Clinton's chicken $hit actions in Somalia that emboldened the islamo-fascists world wide and made them believe we were afraid to confront their evil.

Couple that with Clinton using the might of America and Nato in the Balkans and they now think they own us.

I can't say one good word for the Republicans either here, we gave them the White House and control of the Senate and the House of Representatives and they did nothing to reverse America's Balkan policy.

What should happen is that we blockade every Somali port, what will happen is that Obama and company will use this to revive the horrible UN LOST treaty, sign it and get our retarded senate to ratify it.

looks like American took back the ship. even without the help of the government. glad they didn't wait for hussein to act. they might have all gotten killed

Poor pirates picked the wrong ship, apparently. They took off with their tails between their legs when several of the warships in the area showed up. Apparently they capture one of the pirates, too.

he's already failed at two domestic crises (the ice storm in Kentucky and the flooding in North Dakota), why would he fair any better with an international crisis?

"We are not at war with all pirates. We acknowledge that our country has it's own shameful legacy of mistreating pirates. Further we recognize that our actions may have created conditions that necessitate piracy as a legitimate enterprise. We apologize for our polluting ship and insensitive crew and respectfully request that they be released"

From what this report says, there were never any warships,American or Nato, involved with the rescue. Just sounds like the crew ended woopin some pirate butt and taking back the ship. I know from experience that these pirates dont play around and I am pretty surprised that the crew was able to take back the ship.

it would be a nice ironic twist if the crew used boxcutters to retake the vessel.

I am sure that there are a lot of "foreign objects" onboard the ship that would suffice as a good weapon

I found it slightly humorous the ship is named "Maersk Alabama".

Even the Somalis hate bammers

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called Wednesday for world action to "end the scourge of piracy" as U.S. warships raced to confront the pirates.

FOXNews.com - U.S. Navy Arrives on Scene of Hijacked American Ship - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News

My dislike for this administration is obvious, so maybe I am reaching here. But why does everything require "world action". Some effing pirates took over a ship with Americans on it. MF'er...can we not take some effing pirates? Jeeeezz!!!!!
