"Those getting slammed with high taxes" is code for upper income. "Quit relying on the government" is code for poor black people.

Honestly, the TPers fool no one as to their self interest. I mean, I don't fault them for that. People belong to organizations that tout their interests. I do think, however, that its inaccurate to portray them as interested in anything but themsevles.

Upper income and middle income people are unfairly taxed and there are people of different colors that rely too much on the gov't. But when you liberals play the race card we know that is your final stand and you have lost the debate.

I think that a few minutes of perusing just this board proves the point that many people -- particularly those sharing the sentiments of TPers, if not actual TPers themselves -- perceive poor black people as stereotypically involved in crime and public assistance so far out of proportion to their numbers in the population as to make it a character trait.

You can deny all you'd like that TPers do not feel that way, that they are more theoretical in their approach to government spending, etc. But in the end its pretty obvious where they are coming from on this subject. Any failure to acknolwedge that reality is just a lie.

No. Media commentators did, and meant it to be derogatory.

Methinks they've embraced it and refer to themselves as such....

umm poor black people are involved in crime and public assistance out of the porportion to their numbers. that's completely different than arguing that people have a problem with people on public assistance because they dislike black people or that they think all people on public assistance are black (as you seem to think).

I agree. But you cannot deny that the perception of poor blacks as being overrepresented in the jails and in lines for food stamps has led some (many) to conclude that their race is a predictor for those things, i.e. that its innate or at least a predisposition, either through genetics or character or socialization of culture.

The consequence is that race becomes a proxy for what the real complaint is, whether it be commission of crime or over-use of public assistance. While it may be statistically true that black people are overrepresented in the lower classes, and while it may be true that they are therefore showing up more in jail and on welfare than their numbers would support if all other things were equal, it is a mistake to assume that its because of race.

Its because of being poor and lack of education, etc.

But when liberals tout economic development and better education -- fixes that take generations and decades to show results -- no one wants to hear it. Too much money for results we won't see for a long, long time.

Yeah, wanting the highest rate of government spending reduced to alleviate the largest deficit we've ever had is only going to help a few select people out. Certainly no colored folk are going to benefit from that.

I don't know if I've said it recently, but you really are dumb as hell. Just shut up with your ridiculously off-base demonizations. Does it ever occur to you that the only people that ever agree with you are the borderline mentally impaired posters that think 9% equates to a 3:1 ratio?

Then why is our educational system falling farther and farther behind according to nealy all compotent people?

And why do longtime educators (30+ years) continue to grumble about our education sysytem "improvements" and have been doing so even when Clinton was in office?

You would be amazed talking to an older/retired teacher that was in the game before we started throwing liberal ideas in the game and the differences before and after.

One word.

Spending.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's some communist ******* who is out to destroy America. But the amount of money we've expended during his 1 1/2 years is far exceeding what I was expecting. The problem also is the fact that we have no real way of generating enough income to meet all of these expenses.

I have no idea why you wouldn't think Obama isn't an out and out communist/islamist whose purpose is to destroy/deconstruct America.

On what basis do you propose such a preposterous idea, Barry's dupliscious rhetoric??
