Observation of a praticising physician on obamacare:

While going to school and being supported by your wife? Somehow I don't believe that statement.

He was taking a shot at me because I told him that I support missionaries. The "immigrant" idea was the best he could come up with.

Well he surely must have been displaying his politically correct
attitude toward diversity also. :p

gsvol: thanks for the input and your well-presented synopsis and presentation of our fears.

As the owner of my own small private practice and a US citizen that has dedicated my life to the care of children, I am scared to death of what this policy might do to both the quality of care I can provide and the economic viability of our great country.

I see a lot of legal challenges on this.

For one thing, how can they deny a doctor the right to
own or invest in a hospital or clinic??

At least 12 state attorneys general are mounting
an effort to stop Obamacare in its tracks on constitutional grounds.

(I believe citing the commerce clause.)

Tennessee isn't on the list, a good reason to vote in a Republican
governor. (except that last Rep governor tried to ram a state
income tax down our throats, the two party system has it's
downside.)

Thanks for your inputs on this subject GS

Thanks.

Passage of legislation by Congress and the signature of the President
are not enough. The next step is judicial review by the Supreme Court,

one of these years, you will grow up, and you will look back and realize just how STUPID you were in college

Because he doesn't think exactly like you??? LOL

I am certain there are many in this forum who have NEVER realized how stupid they are, therefore they are unable to change anything due to the attitude that everything is fine the way it is now.

the irony here is off the charts.

1> I have a friend who is the head accountant for a Blue Cross/Blue Shield provider which owns seven BCBS companies around the country. I asked him how the folks he worked with felt about this issue. He replied that after they killed the "public option" they were ecstatic because they knew that there would be no price pressure for them to deal with, and that there would be a whole new cash stream from the government in the form of subsidies.

2> There are no new gov't patients. All these patients will be paid for by private
insurance companies.

3> This is certainly not a "government takeover"... EVERYTHING will run through the insurance companies. The insurance companies will get the lion's share of the money!

4> If this were so bad for doctors, why has the AMA endorsed this for the second time.

2&3. Not true. Medicaid and Medicare are expanded.

4. Cutting Medicaid & Medicare reimbursement rates 21% when they already at around 70% of cost would be my guess.

Irony is so ironic.

And that's the ironic thing about irony!!

George Orwell, 1984 - Chapter 3

‘The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power.

What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from all the oligarchies of the past, in that we know what we are doing.

All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives.

They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just round the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal.

We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end.

One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship.

The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?’

Orwell was writing specifically about the Fabian Society, this is how their plan is working in England.
