Tennessee has no offensive identity this year. My question is this. Is the OC at fault for not calling the right plays? Does he not trust Milton to run the offense? Does Huepel have the OC in a chokehold and restricting the play calling? On the outside looking in, Alex Golesh was the “offensive mastermind” from last year. Milton can’t run this offense at the stupid fast pace they like to run, can’t make the throws needed to keep the offense on the field. CJH seems content with this average performance game after game. CJH has a problem playing on the road. What are others thoughts. Discuss………

Show Martinez and Banks the door. That is all

What do you mean we have no identity? We are still a top rushing offense, missing our #1 receiver.

It was a poor ganeplan against Mizzou and I think we should have ran Milton more in the 1st half. But that doesn't mean we don't have an identity. We just didn't execute at a high level. I still think our staff is getting the most out of the talent we have. Unfortunately, we lost some talent from last season and took a bit of a hit. You can't alwaus pull a rabbit out out of your hat.

If I had a guess based on the TD pass to Thornton that he got hurt on the original plan was to use him and squrriel to take the top off the defense to open for the run game but once he went down that went to hell making us one dimensional. They shut down our run game and squirrel so we had no answer. My biggest gripe was Milton still looked timid running on some plays and his struggle to read the defense was on display.

I’ve wondered this year regarding the offensive play calling if Heup is letting Halzle call the plays and if that’s the case why not take it back… there have been times just hasn’t made sense…

The offensive game plan looked like it was written on a napkin on the bus on the way to the stadium. As far as the defensive game plan.....We didn't have one.
The plan is what it has been. To run the ball then take a deep shot. Missouri's plan was to stop the run and make Milton beat us with his arm. We couldn't get nothing going and when we did we'd shoot ourself in the foot.

Yes, UT has averaged over 200 a game on the ground on O this year. However, UT averaged about 100 per game vs UF, UA, and Mizz! That stat needs to be much better! But, it will not as long as UT DOESN'T HAVE a QB that has very good pocket presence, can't stretch the field, throw over the middle, or make touch passes when necessary!!!

Amen! Amen! Amen! On getting rid of Banks. We need to put the money in and hire the best DC in football be it college or the pros. Think back during the entire season how many time the opposing QB has gained huge yardage time after time in a game. I hate to be a pessimist but the 2024 team will be far worse than the 2023 team. Essentially, we loose the whole offensive line without any sufficient back ups now.

And so is the talent from last year.
Funny how talent and magic go together, isn't volaholic?

My issue is all the people who're unbale to see the forest because of the trees. Our coach inherited an absolute sh*t show of a program and beat 3 of the past 4 national champions in years 2.

Last night was an absolutely abysmal loss because of the recruiting gap between the two programs, no question. But to think we should be competing for the SEC or national championship this year was optimistic, to say the least.

Where was the imagination from our run game except to run between the tackles? Where did we attack them that they weren't waiting? Where was the passes to backs in the flats to slow their front down. Where was the QB runs we had been using to loosen the defense up? Where was the TE routes down the seam and creating mis matches?

Every team worth a crap will try and stop our run...we never scheme to counter that except to run against a brick wall and then abandon it and let Milton try and win it with his arm which he cannot do.

Last nights performance has shown before this season. Florida game being a notable one. The offense last year was exciting and fun to watch. This year not so much. The play calling isn’t near as aggressive and quite frankly it’s just flat out boring to watch. My original question was why? Yet it seems people wanna bash or side step the problem. The offense sucks. Let’s just say it. Besides the running back corp. we have talent on the edges, and the qb can’t get them the ball on time, in stride, without throwing it 100mph. Nobody has ever doubted bazooka joes arm strength. Dude has an absolute cannon for a right arm. He just can’t throttle it back and throw it 10 yards, hit his guys in stride, and give them a chance to catch the ball #1, extend the play #2. Keep the offense on the field #3.

You must have elite talent at the skill positions. We have elite RBs.

We no longer have Hooker, Hyatt, Tillman, and Bru. That's a load of talent to be missing from last year.
You trying to say that missouri has more talent than ut?

I dont think they trust Milton enough to make good decisions to fully open the playbook.

And how many points have been left on the field this year with dropped passes, missed passes by Milton, fumbles, and missed blocking assignments by the O line?

I'm probably looking at that before I get too wrapped up in the play calling.

Team has squandered a lot of chances that the offense didn't squander last year.

Florida has more talent on our their roster than we do. Our running game, though it disappeared last night, has been phenomenal. Our offense was more explosive last year because we had a Heisman trophy caliber QB, the Biltenikoff award winner, another All-American at WR on the opposite side of the field, another 5 star WR who our best returning player on offense, until he was hurt this year, and the best player on the entire team at Left Tackle who whipped anyone and everyone he lined up against.

It's a talent issue. Losing Golesh hurt, no doubt, but it's a players game. Look at Dabo. He hasn't adjusted to the new landscape of college football with the portal and NIL. Has he all the sudden become a bad coach or does his roster not match the years he won a Natty?
