October Midnight Madness could be in the works

Why do some of you despise and are so sickened by the Lady Vols that you wouldn't support the team you follow, the men, if it meant possibly seeing some of the women's team take part in the event? I completely understand if the Lady Vols - and women's basketball in general - does not interest you (you have the right to support whichever team(s) you want), but to essentially boycott them and communicate your disgust of them being involved with this event so much that you would refuse to support the men simply because the Lady Vols will be there is sad.

One of the things that most surprised me during my time in Knoxville attending UT was how much disgust and judgement many possessed towards those who followed the Lady Vols. Never made any sense to me.

This seems like a tit bit of over reaction. The lady Vols attendance is right up there with most any women program in the country. Some folks don't care for women's basketball, but their support overall is strong.

I think some people may have tried to give it a chance only to be frustrated by the fact that Thompson Boling felt like a rally against Prop 8.

It was the girl wearing the rainbow flag with the boombox playing Indigo Girls and Etheridge on loop that did it for me.

I am just kidding, I think some people deep down are just sick of hearing about womens basketball.

Could be Title 9 opposition, could be knowing that for some reason people pretend like equality involves something other than letting everyone play sports without regard to gender based on performance or it could just be that when you dislike watching something or hearing about something it wears on you that when it comes to sports that is the main thing that people in the other parts of the country think about when they hear your school name.

You may be correct, but we never grow tired of those national championship banners that hang from TB. Just wish we could hang one for the men.

I am proud of Pat Summitt and I knew some cool Lady Vols.

I think the Mens team will get a NC, but it will never be close to the Lady Vols legacy. No mens program will ever again have a 30 years like Pat's last 30 and I am including Duke and UNC and Kentucky and UCLA.

If they keep the "Lady" Vols @ home I would go.
I detect a challenge to your masculinity. I'll bet that half the men on this board that make this kind of statement couldn't stay on the court with the whole women's team. Those women are athletes in their own right and give "their" all for Tennessee too. They deserve respect as much as any athlete at Tennessee.

1. It was a joke.
2. I was recruited by several schools out of high school to play basketball and signed to play football @ a 1-AA school, so no they could not beat me at basketball.

I just don't enjoy watching Woman's basketball if it was fun to watch I would support them. Same reason i don't support the Men's tennis team I don't enjoy it, nothing to with Men's or Women's.

The Lady vols routinely get beat byt the all-male practice squad they go against.

FTR - I've played against a former Lady Vol - and despite being impressive for a female player, I could take her anytime I wanted. And I never played collegiate ball.

I don't think anyone would avoid going just because the lady vols will be there.. i truthfully could care less about the lady vols. I get no satisfaction, or feel any pride at all when they win. I wish i did, but it just isn't there. But them being there and sharing the spotlight with the mens team certainly wouldn't keep me from being there. I think i would enjoy it more if the ladies weren't there, but i would still go either way... just to see my favorite college basketball team.
