Yeah, I can't believe I left him off. He certainly would be in my starting 5 instead of Chandler
Yes, and when Ashworth graduated and after Reggie signed, the only post backup was Chuck Threeths. He might have been overlooked on the all name teamWhat TN really could have used in 1974-1977 was a younger Kosmalski or an older Reggie Johnson. Doug Ashworth was way too small for a low post in that era and Kos’s senior year was Ernie’s freshman year while Reggie was a freshman during Ernie and Bernie’s last season. TN had outside shooters, rim attacking forwards, great PGs (Woods and Darden) but were missing the 6’10” 260 pound centers that were necessities in the 1970s. Ashworth would have been an excellent 6th man post player.
It would have made a world of difference if Kosmalski had one more year of eligibility and Reggie was one (or two) year(s) older.
Best 5:
King
Grunfeld
Ellis
Houston
Widby or Lofton or Reggie Johnson.
But for a lineup a true PG would help. Rodney Woods or Johnny Darden. But probably Kennedy Chandler - however there ought to be a minimum of 3 years to be considered.
A true center - Kosmalski or Boerwinkle or Hamer. But Reggie at the 5 rounds out the lineup really well.
A shooter (or perimeter scorer) off of the bench - Mike Edwards or Chris Lofton or Tony White or Michael Brooks or Billy Justus or Jimmy England or Santiago.
Bad Boy enforcers: Carlus and Uros.
All you really need is Bernard plus 4 others to watch in awe.
I'm 25 so my list might be a little different:
PG: Bone/Goins/KC
SG: Lofton/ Vescovi
SF: Tobias Harris
PF: Grant Williams
C: Bryan Williams/ Maymon
