Moving forward, if we get caught up with 1st 15, 2nd 15, 3rd 15, etc... we will never win games. I've seen too many 1st 15 where we run the ball for 3 yards. What does that do?
Yeah we can HOPE for less penalties, but let's just assume we will be in these situations more often. I feel like we don't have enough plays to realistically attack the 1st,2nd,3rd and longs.
Thoughts??

Many people believe we should throw fire into the faces of the opponent or wear animal disguises.

The fire in face approach would seem to be frowned upon, but you may have something with the animal costumes, don’t think anyone’s thought of that yet, although not sure how it would give us an advantage

They also had longer gains running the ball when behind the chains. You can't become predictable in situations like that.

Not enough plays? Not sure why you want to turn this into something Heupel has wrong... but let's see if the execution of the plays comes along before we add to the playbook.

double fades with a slot post. I’m no expert, but I did play Madden 23 last night.

I think we need more bubble screens and 2nd down runs when we are behind the chains. Oh and also we need to continue with our QB totally ignoring the play clock. Timeouts are severely overrated.
I think we should run the wildcat with Milton. Teams will be caught completely off guard....totally.

Milton maybe needs to take Peyton's class @ UT and he can discuss the bad results that come from calling an audible with 5 seconds on the clock.

No offense intended, bit we trot out a team of guys in "furry" costumes-I'm out

That is all.

Fake a run to the right, immediately turn and throw to the tight end that pretended to fall down blocking, while all receivers run deep. Wide open baby!!!

More intermediate passes to the TEs and backs out of the backfield. All these guys have shown flashes as pass catchers. Treat it like an extension of the run game.

Takes pressure off Milton too with quicker reads instead of waiting for WRs to break loose down field.

Depends on Milton's ability to display a modicum of accuracy and touch however.

All joking aside, it's clear Milton's not a good fit for this offense so change the offense. He doesn't process quickly enough to run the Heupel scheme so adjust. Nothing drastic. Just make it more traditional in terms of pace. Our strength, if we have one, is running the ball. Slow it down and simplify things. Make the running game more of a priority than it already is. Tailor your offense to what Joe Milton can do. Don't ask him to be Hooker.

The problem is the offensive line is lacking. Not sure what the coaches are supposed to call that they haven’t already tried. They need Copper back in a big way. Once he’s back I think they’ll look better.
This right here. The play calling is handcuffed because Milton doesn’t have enough protection. This is the reason we’re seeing 15 screens a game instead of slinging it downfield. The protection was there against Virginia, but has fell off since then. I mean against Florida, neither the run or pass game could really get off the ground due to poor protection and poor run blocking. Averaging 2.9 yards per carry isn’t going to cut it in The SEC.

Coach Hype does what Coach Hype does and he is not going to change. I just hope he opens up the middle of the field as far as the passing game. If I could have anything to improve the offensive scheme it would be a healthy Mays and another quality OLinemen to go with him. 2nd a little more speed as far as the wr position. The defense is playing 9 sr's in their rotation and they are what they are, I just hope they get some underclass players some experience for the future.

Can’t make them penalties. Not acceptable, have to correct it. You can get away with a few but you can’t afford 6-7 or more of false starts or illegal procedures.

It would be nice to know when we’re getting Mays back. And I am not talking about on the sidelines in a uniform. GBO

The quick screens are basically run plays cause the OL couldn’t block the DL or teams are loading the box. You’ll see more as the season goes on.

I guess if coach is going to continue with Milton, you have to figure out his strengths and design schemes around them, and hope for the best. These slant passes aren't going to work all game long in SEC play. Ugh

I'm tired of waching the orthodoxy behind missing a first down pass to automatically running the ball on second down at both the collegiate and pro levels.

Our offense is heavily based on 1 on 1 matchups. We are constantly trying to find the miss match or trying to "tire out" the defense. Also, because we don't SUB out it's almost like we have 3 "teams" for each drive. At least that's how it feels.
