Offensive type!

You've got to be able to wear on defenses. UT had too many three and outs.

One major abscence from Chaney's scheme was the WR screen, and throws to the WRs behind the LOS. With CP, this is arguably the best playmaker of the past 15 years of UT football. If you want to run up tempo, then you need to sustain drives. That is how you wear them down. Instead it wore our defense down.

I too am tired of the “new age” style offense. Pass, pass, pass, pass. The game is morphing into Arena League Football. You see it in the CFL,NFL and NCAA.
Of course there’s been teams with this type offense over the years, the University of Houston comes to mind. But now it seems everyone is trying to be Oregon. Sure it’s fun to watch to a point then it becomes something other than football.
If you can’t appreciate what we saw on the field in the SEC Champ game with Georgia and Alabama running a balanced attack and strong defenses then you truly do not understand what the game is all about. The game of football should be about strategy, field position, out smarting the opposing team not a track meet to a 58-57 final score.

We have pro set concepts....but to line up in the "I" for 4 qtrs you better have two backs that can pound. We need at least one 220lb back that can bring it and maybe a change of pace back that can work in the mix. We really don't have those type backs signed right now. Hill is a big back but obviously hasn't turned heads in practice. It gets back to personnel. Hopefully we can sign a couple of stud backs in the near future. It's obviously a recipe that works in the SEC!!!

I would consider a pro style offense when lots of I-form and single back sets are used and the TE is used a lot. We really run a spread offense IMO. Pro style offenses usually rely on down the fielding running and playing man to man on the o-line. I believe Chaney loves the zone blocking schema if I'm correct which is better suited for a pass heavy offense.

I agree with you when you said Chaney loves the zone blocking. That scheme has been problematic for us at times due to our running backs. They did much better this year though. Zone blocking works the best when you have RB's that are fast and have excellent vision and anticipation. (Oregon type backs)

Our guys really improved in the running game this year and I am proud of them. I do miss the hard downhill running mindset of old. Things change and we were playing to our strengths. Proud of the results, O was not the problem this year.

Twenty-five teams in college football averaged over 77 offensive snaps per game this season.

Of the twenty-five teams, only Bill Blankenship's team at Tulsa was able to win their conference championship. Jim Mora's squad at UCLA won the PAC-12 South, but not the outright PAC-12 championship.

Alabama averaged the 3rd fewest offensive snaps per game (63). The Crimson Tide will play for the national championship. Kansas State and Florida averaged 64 snaps per game. Both teams went 11-1. Notre Dame and Ohio State each averaged 70 offensive snaps per game, yet neither lost a game.

We averaged 74 snaps, three shy of the 77 cut-off for the article, pretty interesting.

I like the power run too but our current offense works fine. I think it would be worthwhile to have continuity on one side of the ball.

Thank you. I'm making my rounds because all I've seen today are people complaining about Chaney and wanting a new offense.

This just in: UT's offense was not the problem!

Well yes and no. While the offense was exiciting it was obvious the D was weak. With that understanding you have to make sure to keep your d on the bench.
A track meet style O, if they score or do not score puts your weak d back on the field.
Slow down, pound the rock, eat the clock, stick it in the endzone.
