Official 2015 Summer Baseball Thread

Senzel caps the regular summer season off with a three run homer in the first inning of tonight's game...Finishes with a .364 BA...should be in the discussion for league MVP and the Thurmon Munson Award.

I think Senzel is going to have a big summer in the cape and will cement his status as a big time mlb prospect. I will be surprised if he is not invited to play for the collegiate Team USA. He is a great hitter.

Good call here by buvol. Senzel finished in the top two in almost every major stat category in the Cape this summer. Can't see how he doesn't get the league MVP. Hope it happens. Go Vols!!

Warren goes 5IP, giving up a run on 5 hits with 3 walks and 6 strike outs...another game between the Bucs/Miners is in progress...

Cammarata and Reid's game was cancelled last night, so those two are done...DCam ended with a .232 BA...Reid finished at 1.70 ERA and had a .177 b/avg, best on the team...

The anchorage bucs win the abl beating the matsu miners 2-0 in best 2 out of 3. Aaron soto & brodie leftridge were big in the series win!!! Congrats boys!!!

Nice, seems like in the playoffs he's been used as a closer mostly. Thanks for all your help this summer 31!

No problem! I think he is a reliever, personally. Every time he tries the starter role, he seems to struggle after 4 or so innings, if not sooner. Out of the bullpen, he seems to attack hitters more, and really max out his stuff.

I can't argue with that.

SIAP - an update on future Vols pitching commit, Zach Linginfelter of Sevierville, in the Mountain Press this AM. Made the UA All-America Game. Will get to pitch at Wrigley next Saturday. Has been playing/touring with Team Elite out of Atlanta all summer. FB averages 92-94 with a recorded 96. 6'4", 230 lbs, RH. Learning how to pitch instead of just being a thrower due to the tough competition he is facing. The club he plays for has around 20 D-1 commits on it. Added 15 lbs of muscle from their S&C.

Hope CDS can hold on to this one, because MLB scouts have to be watching.

Hoping to catch a few games this coming year. I think we'll be better than most think.

ICYMI, @FPiliereD1 had a terrific breakdown of #Vols #Vandy guys, plus more from The Cape: Cape Buzz: Vandy's Bowden Caps Magical Summer … ($)

Anybody got the info from this D1 article? TIA

Senzel Caps Superb Summer

No hitter was more consistent than Nick Senzel (Tennessee) was in his summer for the Brewster Whitecaps. A highly athletic infielder capable of playing both second and third base at the next level, Senzel showed the type of profile that could make him a rare commodity as a professional.

Senzel hit a whopping .364 for the summer, slugged four home runs, and was an impact player both on the bases and defensively for Brewster. Senzel flashes plus speed at times, and is a true base stealing threat, given the type of instincts he showed this summer. He swiped 14 bags and was very apt to take the extra base when it was there for the taking. Senzel’s 20 home run type profile make him a highly intriguing possibility as a big league second baseman. He showed excellent range up the middle and has the well above average arm strength to complete the spectacular, rangy plays he’s capable of.
