Official 2018 Summer Ball Thread

You need to have a full team play regardless of how good they are. Would you rather the staff throw 7 guys out in the field just because the others aren’t the best? The guys that weren’t the best but still played didn’t get recruited by this staff which should show they are willing to play whoever they think gives them the best chance to win. If you think CTV is only going to play his recruited guys then why did Chinea, hitting .150, play over Stapp after Stapp was fully healthy?

Why is Stapp not on the roster anymore? That’s why....

Dance when Vitello sings, laugh when Vitello jokes, earn it or not, he had favorites and it cost the program games.

my first thought is to any "kid" reading this, Welcome to the real world......get use to it.

Which games and who?

yeah, I'm interested as well. Not saying "favorites" don't happen however when your a struggling SEC team with a 1st year HC I gotta believe he's trying to win regardless of who recruited who. Now, attitude and work effort may put someone ahead who may not be as gifted as another.

Hell every coach has favorites and they should

And another thing that's always true. Family members are biased

So who should have played? Which catcher was better?

OT inspired answer.

Nico or Pete at least they catch the ball.

LOL. Derkay couldn’t play catcher due to injury. This has been known. Vitello played the best and only real catcher we had. Mascia is a great kid, but he is not capable of catching in the SEC. He is here because his academics made him a cheap sign. He hit .245 his senior year at Farragut, so the fact that he was able to contribute at all says a lot about the staff.

*And before someone says Russell I saw him play catcher numerous times and he is not an SEC catcher.

I won’t argue this anymore because it clutters up the thread. It is just comical that people think we had SEC catchers sitting around wasting away. Serrano didn’t leave one on campus.

Ok I agree with you. Moving on.

You’re so spot on. That is why he signed so many players to create depth. There was no depth whatsoever on this roster. I agree on Russell that’s why they moved him to the outfield. The staff saw the same thing you did I’m assuming.

Jacob Westphal was just signed and activated by the Harwich Mariners. UT is listed as his school......not sure if he's pitched since 2017. I believe he was enrolled at UT attending school this past season.
