Official Auburn at Tennessee Game 2 Thread - 4PM - CSS/ESPN3

I'm baffled about the decision to bring Kyle Serrano in in the 7th down only two runs. I'm baffled that Lance was the guy you bring on to PH, 4 at bats all season until today...I hope people don't take that as being negative...I just don't understand those two decisions.

We are young and its understandable to struggle with good pitching, but I think we are mentally fatigued from that road trip.

Auburn will likely find themselves in the top 25 mix on Monday. Boy, Hoover is going to be exciting! Get your tickets now! That first day will likely dictate the first few out for the NCAA selection committee. I think this may be the most even the league has been in quite a while.

We are going to be fine. I have come down from my high, teetering perch above the rest of the middle of this conference. I have to say its a lot less nerve wracking down here. If we win tomorrow, we are still exactly on my proposed pace to make Hoover at .500 in conference. That has to be the goal. I predict we come out loose tomorrow and put up some very good AB's, hopefully ending this series on a high note. Go Vols!

Coach S is obviously trying to help his son, Kyle, break out of his pitching slump. I think the kid is pressing to hard, trying to please his father and the team and live up to his high school reputation. He needs to settle down and get his mind straight, then he will be OK. As far as pinch hitters, it has always seemed to me that most pinch hitters don't get the job done, but I guess the regular player is not getting the job done, so you take a chance with another player.

Depends on hitter and situation.

I think we need to win tomorrow since we are going to SC next week, although surprisingly, Ky has beat SC twice (at Ky). Looking at the first two weeks, there does seem to be a lot of parity in the conference. Auburn's freshman pitcher is very good, and I think they will do well this season.

I believe KS has tremendous potential. Maybe something is happening in practice that I don't see. Based on the games...He shouldn't have been out there. It pains me to say it, I don't like saying it, he's been given many chances...mental, mechanics...whatever...it was a two run game...to decide the series. We have more experienced guys...

It's just one game and I realize he needs experience...I just...I'll be ready to go... bright and positive tomorrow.

GBO!!!

Valid points Vol66 but when you score 4 runs in two games and have bases loaded 4 or 5 times and don't score a run. That to me would indicate more than just who PH and who pitches. Just my take on it. GBO

He's a great arm out of the pen. I could see why Dave does this.

I agree, posted that our offense, or lack of, was a major concern BEFORE the series. Knowing that we haven't been hitting well is precisely why I believe you don't bring KS into the situation today, based on his performance so far in games...we couldn't afford another run. He faced five batters, gave up 3 hits, a walk and 2 runs...There's enough blame to go around, for sure, but that's tough right there. If it were a fluke, meh...no big deal, but it's par for the course...so far...Again, I see the flashes, but he just hasn't pitched enough, he's not ready for SEC weekends.

I sound like all the posters I don't like...I apologize...I don't know shinola about it, so take that into consideration...we'll get them tomorrow, no doubt.

GBO!

Question is, if KS wasn't his son, would he be given all the opportunities he has so far?

I don't think that's the case.

For me, it's just about the numbers and timing. For instance, Hunter Martin had just pitched his best inning, I know his pitch count was up in the 90's at that point but...

We have several more experienced pitchers with good ERA's that aren't going to feel the pressure of the situation in the same way a freshman with almost no experience coming out of the pen might have.

Time to move on, I'm passed it, I hope we can get the bats going today and avoid the sweep.

GBO!
