Official Austin Peay at Tennessee Game Thread - 6PM

It's a fair question and I don't know the answer. I think there are a couple guys around here that know a lot more about pitching. I'm just a fan of the team.

However, he's a freshman, very talented, but still a freshman.

Nobody here thought Andy Cox would do what he's done this year based on what he did as a freshman, well I certainly didn't.

KS shows glimpses of why he was so highly thought of, but CDS has said multiple times and again tonight that he is going through some things.

Going a little further, maybe further than I should...CDS took him out of the weekend rotation, that had to be tough on both of them. So, he got the start tonight and the first couple innings were the best of the season. Then...

If he was still in the weekend rotation going into this weekend I'd be worried. As it stands, there is time to bring him along I think.

I know it's not much of an answer, but I thought I'd give it a shot because it was a fair question.

Looks like KS had trouble putting the batter away. It looked like a mental problem. It's better he hit a brick wall now, so we can solve it rather than the playoffs.

Can anyone explain KS's meltdown in the 4th?

I warned of this before the season started. Kyle is a very talented pitcher with plus-plus velocity. However, he has not pitched a lot of game innings. He did not play summer ball (a lot of showcases) and he only played two years of varsity HS baseball and was injured during both of those years.

He has the potential to be a dominant college pitcher (you see flashes of that now) and a high draft choice. However, it is going to take some time for him to be polished and learn to handle adversity on the mound. We will have to be patient and root for him as he matures into the pitcher he will become.

I was at the game... He got some very questionable calls when he'd get 2 strikes on a batter and Austin Peay took advantage of it... This happened a couple times

I noticed this from watching. The umps were terrible yesterday.

I'm pumped up! Diamond Vols win again, bb team wins tonight & I will be at the the UT-vandie baseball weekend in April AND the SEC tournament in Hoover in May.

The 2 base umpires weren't too bad... the home plate umpire was absolutely HORRIBLE. If it werent for those horrible calls it would've been 5-1 at the end of the inning and we would've won easily
