Official Austin Peay at Tennessee Game Thread - 6PM

One of my biggest worries about this programs future

Style doesn't fit the ballpark.

By far one of the smallest playing stadiums in the sec and our style plays like we are playing in Omaha with a wind howling directly in.

Doesn't match and I think it's a problem

Oh...I don't know about all that, but I think this staff, and I'm talking the offensive guys, not the pitching guys, CDS has very little to do with what we do in that way...they need to let the guys play baseball and quit trying to pull the strings all the time...if we're in the bottom of the order, I can understand that. But let Stew see what he can do there, we still have Senzel...just don't get it in that situation.

I understand there is always a time and place for that style but to me it's clear we play that nearly all the time

Case in point we got thrown out to end a game down 4-1 trying to steal 2nd. Complete ignorance

Anyone at the game have an opinion as to why Brodie was pulled after the walk?

Did he about get hit with a pitch and get out of the way? CDS pulls guys if they don't take the hit. Happened to Benito against Florida.

IMO there's a time and place for small ball. Like you were saying with Stew up, just let your best hitter hit and stop trying to get cute. This past weekend we were down 9-2 in the 8th or 9th and were trying to sac bunt. At that point swinging away is the only chance you have at coming back from that deficite that late in the game. I just dont get their timing. But then again I'm not a D1 baseball coach. I do like, for the most part, what ive seen from our pitching staff.

I wasn't at the game so I don't know why Brodie got pulled...but Lance maybe not as fast, but he's one of, if not the smartest base runners we have. He's the closest thing we have to Maddox imo.

Maybe so. I'm a little worried about Brodie after watching all 3 games against Florida. His body language after ABs is pretty bad. I wonder if he's being asked to bunt for base hits as often as he does and doesn't agree with it.

Could be, I've seen that as well,

Yeah, I'm not going to get pulled into the small ball debate. I think the hardest thing to determine as a fan is the base running mistakes. Like the Maggio deal in the UF game, that's on him in my opinion, but I don't know for a fact. Then the deal with AJ and Stew tonight, imo it's on the coaches, but I don't know it...so,

I watched a lot of CSF games when Serrano was out there and it was uber aggressive, talking tourney time, and it was pretty successful and they were very good at it.

In the past few years I've always had some games where I asked myself what are they thinking, but nothing like what we've seen thus far this season. I don't know who is to blame, but I suspect it's a bit of both.

All of that said, lots of good things tonight, positive things, we shut them out, no fielding errors if memory serves, Warren bounced back well, Kane was good, Moberg had a dinger...best news is we have 2 days to practice and hopefully good weather.

GBO!

I think he was actually hurt from the collision at first in previous AB.

Who knows though
