Sorry, I just saw this. It was OK, but his politics are the thing I like the least about him. We agree a lot, but for different reasons and a lot of his opinions aren't based on solid reasoning. JMO

If you listen to the podcast I would say just read Not Taco Bell Material and skip the other 2.

I am the exact same on his political reasoning. I find myself agreeing with a lot of the things he says, but in the same sentence he throws in a dash of tyranny. He calls himself a libertarian, but I don't think he quite has a grasp on what that actually means. Well, my wife got it for me for my birthday, so I'll give it a try even if it isn't quite as good as Not Taco Bell Material or 50 years.

I read the Bible daily, but not a big reader. I do occasionally enjoy reading true story events. I recently (about a year ago) read a book written by a Jewish woman who's family survived in Poland in ww2. A lot of stories of how they hid in attics, bales of hey, etc. Very moving.

Just finished Slaughterhouse 5. I really liked it. Vonnegut is pretty funny and clever. The style of the book is unique and the choppy nonsensical chronological arrangement of the book makes it interesting and quite confusing (which is the point). I'll have to read more of his stuff.

"Must read" is about the last thing I'd use to describe the Quran.

If you have no interest in what makes people want to fly planes into buildings, join ISIS, behead people, blow themselves up, a big driver of geopolitics, or what 1.6 billion people think is the word of God, sure.

Finished Unbroken. Great read.

We moved a month ago and I have not been able to find my book "Manhunt" . It is Bout JWB and the assisination of Lincoln. Excellent read.

I haven't done a lot of reading in years. I'll read maybe two novels a year now. Currently reading The Black Cross by Iles. My favorite authors of all time and I've read all their books are Steinbeck, Hemingway, Uris, Twain, Burroughs, Kipling, Tolkien, Defoe, Le Carre and Hugo. Some of the recent authors I have read the last few years are Follett and Clancy. My favorite books of all time are Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice and Men, The Pearl, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Godfather, Wuthering Heights, Exodus, The Trinity, Mila 18, Robinson Crusoe, and Les Miserables. Also, liked some of the other classics like Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Madam Bovary, Pride and Prejudice, Moby Dick, Great Expectations, etc. Those old guys could write. My next book after the Black Cross will be World Without End. Already have read Fall of Giants.

P.S.-Also, read most of the Michener novels like South Pacific, Chesapeake, and The Source (about a Tell) years ago.

You won't hate it, and I bet you enjoy it.

On a non-book related question, what are your thoughts on the departure of Alison Rosen as Adam's sidekick? I was kind of blind sided. Also feel like he's a dick for firing her over christmas break via email. I thought she was a really good side kick and added a nice female perspective to a lot of discussions.

I honestly hadn't listened for like a month, and I tuned in today and was wondering who Tina was. I did like Allison and I don't know anything about it other than what you just told me. Going to look into it.

Carolla's definitely a dick.

Introduction to Objectivism by Ann Rand

I thought her epistemology of concept formation to be pretty lucid and probably correct. However, the book and the printed discussion did very little to actually address the topic of objectivism verse subjectivism. Very disappointing. I never read (nor have any interest in reading) Atlas Shrugged. Maybe those that have and are big fans can get more out of this that I did.

Killing Kennedy by Bill O'Reilly

Solid book. I thought it was equal to Killing Lincoln. Very fast read and well-written.
