Official Boxing thread

Gamboa is my favorite fighter right now, when he actually fights like he can. For some reason, he seems to love to show flashes of what he can do but then turn a fight into a clinch fest. I'm hoping that after Solis (assuming he gets by him) they will finally have to put Gamboa and JuanMa Lopez in against each other. I'm hoping that the presence of another top flight fighter will bring out just how special he can be.

I'll be rooting for the Ukranian tonight in the battle of undefeated light heavies.

I hope Yaundale Evans is on the televised portion of the card.
Youngish American lightweight, plus his ring handle is "Money Shot"

I like having experienced amateurs fighting when neither are trained towards winning style points....Despaigne is an elite talent, as is Syllakh, both likely high end contenders who campaigned on the international trail.

Treacherous decision, as far as the scores went. Goes to show, you need to put a promoter backed prospect on the deck to win. Golden Boy has been chock full of shady scoring. Makes me want to vomit, De Leon losing 9-1 on one card when I had it 6-4 in his favor.

Alvarez comes in overweight, Ricky advised Matt to back out, but he's going for it. JMM took a few shots at Alvarez about unprofessionalism for missing a catchweight he insisted.on.

Well, Hatton was game, too bad he's not that good. I had him taking the 5th and 10th, he fought throughout though.

Alvarez is the real McCoy, heavy hands and he can hammer the body, and does, rare for a young power guy.

He kept his head still all night, which didn't hurt tonight since Hatton can't thump, but he's got to watch that, eventually the guy across the deck will be able to hit.

He plowed Hatting twice off the break, he's gotta watch that exuberance.

Strong showing, looking forward to seeing more soon.

SAE Boxing weekend just ended tonight. Congrats to all the winners.

FWIW, Thursday night included a 3 second knockout.

Alvarez is a horse. ...I never thought I would see a ginger latino.

Kellerman was a little annoying last night but it was a good show.

I like Broner's confidence, but I truly look forward to the day when he gets knocked on his ass after acting like an one.

I think Kellerman and Roy are a decent team, I was glad that Kellerman kept taking shots at the Alphabet title racket. Sometimes it seemed as if he was trying to hard to look for something to talk about, though.

I was surprised the crowd didn't riot.

I'm not as sure about him as I was heading into tonight. Hatton really isn't much of a test and, while he did dominate, he couldn't put him away. When he first came up he was just mowing guys down, now he says he's moving up in weight where the guys will mostly get harder to stop. Will be interesting to watch.

This alone makes me like Kellerman. That can never be pointed out often enough.

And the Broner decision was abysmal.

David Haye has confirmed he will happily fight Wladimir Klitschko in 'his own backyard' | Boxing News | ESPN.co.uk

What say you? We've heard all this **** before from Haye, lets see him make a date in the States with Wladamir, as despite his spouting off he won't fight either Klitschko in Germany.

Guy is an embarrassment to British boxing.

While I want to see this fight, as its really the only thing interesting for the division, but Chisora is pretty much getting screwed in this whole ordeal.

Not the best weekend ever but there is still a top P4P guy in Martinez fighting, which is usually always something worth watching. Don't know much about the opponent except for he's built up a decent record over in Europe. He's apparently not supposed to be a pushover, but we'll have to see.

Andy Lee resurfaces on the under card, as well.

And if you feel like throwing some money away, Cotto-Mayorga is on PPV.

There's a decent card tonight featuring Ronald Johnson, Joel Casamayor, Michael Grant, et al from Vegas tonight. Unsure of TV though.

Article I read just showed PPV but didn't list a price. I'm sure your assumption will be correct though.

Vasquez/Zappavigna is looking pretty good on the Cotto undercard, as far as I can tell through through a lousy stream. They link to another site with a good stream, but they are asking $5.50 for it, seems shady, plus the HBO card will be on before the main event from Vegas anyhow.

I really should have took a ride out to watch the HBO card live, but it didn't cross mine or the wifes mind until about an hour ago.

Cotto showing up with a harem of asian women.

Showtime is advance billing Pacquaio/Mosley as "The Fight Of the Year 2011" If that's the case we're in trouble.
