Official Boxing thread

The UFC fights on the ground are boring, mainly due to a wrestler not being able to submit someone once he's on the ground, otherwise they usually end with a submission.

The only big name fighter I enjoy watching, is Pac, and thats because of his lightning quickness is amazing to watch. Mayweather is such an egomaniac it's hard to enjoy watching him knowing he's only in it for the big payday, and kind of dodged Pac, the only challenging fighter left in his weight class.

As I said, I'm far from well versed in all things UFC, the hugging contests I was referring to often do end in a submission which is why I fully admit it takes a lot of skill but it still doesn't seem exciting to me. A guy eventually tapping out because his arm is about to get broken took some skill by his opponent but it doesn't make for exciting television, at least not for me.

I too like watching Pac fight (and it's apparently already official that we'll see it again this November with his third fight against Marquez) but there a lot of other good fights and fighters out there right now. One of which is in action this Saturday night in Andre Ward, who could be on his way to being one of the next big American fighters.

It's a replay from a couple of years ago, unless there's some sort of update that I'm not aware of, but it's definitely worth the watch. Very sad but very well done.

I still don't know how to feel about Resto but Panama Lewis is one huge POS.

It was a well done documentary. Have no clue how the Collins family couldn't win a lawsuit against the New York Boxing Commission...Plaster in the wraps and the padding out of the gloves?? My Lord.

Totally agree with Panama Lewis being one gigantic POS.

It is officially on?

Word was yesterday afternoon that offer was in and agreed upon by both guys, however; due to Marquez's recent split with Golden Boy, they still had the ability to come in with an offer to match the money with a fighter of their own.

So now, in what looks to be nothing more than a big F U to Top Rank, GB is apparently floating the idea of offering Marquez $5 mil to fight Victor Ortiz bc that's what Top Rank was going to give him to fight Manny.

Sometimes I really wonder why I defend this sport so much.

Arum can be as much of prick as anyone but, at least when it comes to the last year or two, it's been GB who has been worst.

Agree, GBP seems to have fallen off their "fighters first" mantra they initially claimed.

Anyone been watching the Showtime Fight Camp 360? Reminds me of the Contender on ESPN 4 or 5 years back.

The Contender was a good show. The unfortunate part was many contestants, and promoters, parlayed the show into getting guys into fights they didn't deserve.

I liked watching it though.

Peter Manfredo, Jr. and Sergio Mora have noooo idea what you are talking about!

They all looked pretty good on the show, as all were somewhat aggressive with limited skill sets, but if the Royals played AA teams for a season they'd look good too.

Manfredo's post fight interview after getting mulched by Calzaghe was a great one.

It was just strategy JTrain, he was just going to wait for him to run out of gas, then he was going to have him right where he wanted him!

Fredo and Ali, definitely cut from the same cloth.

Yeah, the wife and me admired the "let him land 13 uncontested power shots while turtling in the corner" strategy.

"It's hard for Manny to look good against Mosely, because he's not fighting"

What an abortion of a fight, I want my $3.50 back.
