Martinez will get a retread fighter with a bit of name value, thinking about it Pavlik will likely be the guy, just to have some name value around an HBO card.

Depends on the weight. Pavlik seemed to rule out fighting at martinez' weight after their last fight. I don't think he wants to make that again. Besides, Kelly has lost some of his luster lately

I just think, that at this point, Kelly would realize that another Martinez fight might be his only good shot at a meal ticket in the fight game.

I like Kelly so I'd love for you to be right but I think he's done as a real fighter. I don't know what it was but he seems to just have nothing left. Since B Hop beat him he looms done.

pretty neat joust in the British tabloids about the fight, Froch and Abraham both vowing to fight dirty haha.

I realize it would be against the spirit of the tournament to allow "The Pride of Wales" to come in at this point, but he would ruin anyone in that mess, as would Hopkins if he hadn't put on so much weight.

I'd like to think that Dirrell has what it takes to be a headliner, but the money rushed him into fights with guys he didn't have the ring time to handle, ie Froch and Abraham...he may have beaten Froch in the USA, and beat Abraham on low blows and kidney shots, but the 2 best "active" guys at 168, Joe and Bernard, would have shut him out on points, if they didn't knock him out.

In short, he got thrown into the super 6 on account of being an American, and he simply wasnt ready.

Yeah, this one will definitely be dirty. Better fight will be the one on HBO, though. I'm really looking forward to Marquez - Katsidis.

Yeah, I don't think Calzaghe would have much trouble with anyone in the tournament. As for Bernard though, he might win as well but I don't want to see it. He was never any exciting fighter to watch but, after that abomination of a fight he had with Jones, I have no interest in seeing him fight again.

Great fight, exciting beginning to end. Katsidis is fun to watch, brave to a fault, but just outclassed. There might be a couple round of the year candidates in there.

Another free TV card that outclasses a PPV card top to bottom. I'm going to grab the ShoBox show on a torrent and watch tomorrow.

Brave to a fault is a great description for him but he's never known any other way. He did well for himself in spots, the knockdown especially, but in the end outclassed is right. Fun to watch though!

Two more good cards tonight:

Showtime's got the 4 man round robin starting tonight, all 4 of these guys love to throw. I could see two lopsided point decisions and still have incredibly entertaining fights, especially the Darchynian fight.

HBO's got one of the best and fastest fighters in any class with Amir Kahn. His only question mark is a glass jaw. His oppenent is one of the P4P hardest hitters. He could be getting shutout with a minute to go in the 12th and he'll still be in this fight.

Going on the record for NochNoch that at 1:30 of the 10th I woke my wife up yelling for the ref to stop the fight.

Well, through 7 rounds I was going to say Amir would be the next Joe Calzaghe for British boxing. The close showed me that at this point, any world class fighter at weight would probably knock him out.

Roy Jones sucks as a commentator. He makes Lennox Lewis sound like Howard Cosell

This, good god this! He's so awful. I really wish HBO could poach Tarver from Showtime. It'd kill two birds; instantly improving the HBO team and giving Tarver less of a reason to entertain the notion he's still a viable fighter.

Ha! That's awesome. On Saturday afternoon I got a much better (i.e. better looking) offer for my plans on Saturday night so I didn't catch up on the DVR until last night. That was a great fight. You knew that I was suspect of Kahn but I will say that he impressed me in hanging on when I thought he had no chance. Maidana is just rough and dirty, not a good combo for Kahn but he held on, barely.

Ha! JTrain, just did a quick flyby around some of the other threads in the forum, saw your cameo in the UFC thread. Awesome.

As much as I don't want to see it, I'd be surprised if the next time we see Manny it isn't for Pac - Cotto II. Even though he isn't as good of a fighter anymore, he's still a bigger name than either Williams or Martinez and, probably more importantly, he's a Top Rank guy. Arum loves to keep these things in the family.

Well I thought Arum would keep it all in the Top Rank family with a Cotto rematch for Manny but they went a different route to get a "name" for the bigger draw. Still just as uninteresting of a fight though.

Shane Mosley has agreed to fight Manny Pacquiao in May - ESPN

Only thing I'm bummed by is that makes the writing on the wall very clear that packey-yow v mayweather is never gonna happen.

Well, I am glad to have a Pacquiao fight, but was thinking it was going to be Marquez. I thought it was close to a done deal.
