I'm always pumped for bball, but we obviously have a chance to do something special this year.

Last season, the first game was on Nov. 9, so I will be counting down to that day until the schedule is released.

Never too early to get hyped for basketball season! GO VOLS!!

~162 DAYS!!

The Alabama game is out of my mind.

New season. We add three big impact players this year to a team that had a legitimate case to be in the NCAA tourney.

I am curious how good Pop will be. Obviously he isnt going to come in scoring in double digits. But if he could have doubeldigit minutes, I think that will be huge for us. Maymon and Stokes have to get breaks. If Paw plays like Maw, then we will be small if both sit at the same time.

Pop will be used sparingly unless he proves he can be a decent scorer/defender.

I think we can make a deep run into the Dance, like sweet 16, maybe elite 8.

We'll see. I tend to agree with you. We dont need his scoring really either. But his presence in the paint, giving Maymon and Stokes a blow, and being able to get up and down the court could prove valuable.

Omg, I hate this expression lol. I doubt Pops is going to be performing any inter-team fallacio haha.

How far do you guys think we go this year? I'm hoping for at least a sweet sixteen win.

Pops is Yemi's replacement right? Is he JUCO? Can someone tell me a little about him?

I really want to lay a smack down on the Kentucky Kitty Cats again this year. Too much hype around them.

All kidding aside please someone explain to me how we won't be good enough to win it all?...not saying we will, but I do think we have all the right pieces to do it. It all depends on match ups too. Wichita St didn't honestly think the would make it to the final 4 this year I bet. But we are upgrading every position from last year. We have a huge upgrade defensively at pg. McRae should be better than last year (wow!) a good defensive stopper in Richardson. A good bench player Hubbs (it's unknown right now what we got with him, but looks really positive.) We'll have one of the best backcourts in the nation with Stokes and Maymon (if he's as healthy as they are saying he is) and a couple other solid players. I'm pumped up for b ball season if you can't tell, and I am a little optimistic, but for once we actually have a reason to be!! Go Vols!!!!

I love the confidence but I have to disagree with you that we win it all this year. Not saying that we won't but sweet 16 or elite 8 is a good possibility.

3 big things I see Stoked. You know what you're gonna get with McRae, Richardson and Stokes for the most part, so:

1. Barton effect: if he can be a consistent threat from outside, bring consistent effort, and lead from the PG position...then we're good there.

2. Maymon's health: all signs seem to be he will return 100%, but I still wanna see him out there. If he's 100% and can go 30 minutes a night, we may have the best frontcourt duo in the nation.

3. The freshman impact: mainly im talking about Mr. Hubbs. We don't need him to be Ben Mclemore, but we need some contributions. If he can provide a spark, and 8-10ppg that's perfect. However, if he happens to be a freshman sensation, and putting up 15-18ppg, then watch out.

Like I said, those are my big 3 questions. If all 3 checkout, then yes, this team has the pieces to compete for a championship IMO.

I'm not saying we for sure will, just saying we have everything you need to win one for once.

It's hard to imagine a coach in his 6th year, with only 2 years in a major conference to win it all. See Josh Pastner.

He didn't say we will win it all, he said we have the pieces to. If you're saying we have the pieces to likely make an elite 8, then you're also saying we have the pieces to win it all. It's all about matchups and luck, if you have the talent to make the elite 8, and things go your way...you could win it all.

Good point, and one I should've added to my post. Martin has never been there, I'm not sure if there's ever been a coach win it all in his first trip. Also wonder what the furthest a first time coach has been...

Good points BTO. I'm just excited and a very optimistic person and I think we are in for something special next year!

I asked this in another thread, but this may be a better place....

I'm going to the beach this summer and I'd love to have a bball preview magazine to take with me. I usually pick up a college football preseason magazine for the trip but have never looked for a college bball magazine.

Am I going to be able to get my hands on one anytime soon or do they all come out in the fall?

We definitely have the talent to win it all this year but it's not going to be an easy task. With the line-up we have this year, there should be no excuse to not make the NCAA tournament. With that be saying said, we have the talent to keep up with anyone in the country.
